Ppl from the US can't be entertained by the hood blogs anymore. I mean it's the same exact thing every time just in a new city. they talk the same. they same points....everything the same. I'm from the projects too...but when we were coming up it was embarrassing to be from the projects. I wanted to be from somewhere nice. Now it's cool to be damn near 30 in front of project buildings. Man the hood need to grow up. How is it you can go back 20 years and it's the same exact story. We never evolved. but things are constantly evolving around us. it's not about what the government did or didn't do anymore. there's too many ways now to get out of poverty and get money legit. We had to live in the projects when I was coming up because it was hard to find certain opportunities. Now you can literally just have a drivers license and make 6 figures doing Uber/Lyft. Stop it! we don't want to hear these stories anymore. If you live in the projects you want to be there.

Too many ways to get out of poverty? What generation are you? Your generation had more father figures in the community than this generation and there were more activities to do in the community than there is now. So you had some advantages, even though you think this generation has the advantages. Your point is solid in that we have to keep pushing. But the government creates new strategies to off set the community each generation. Your generation, they segregated all blacks and pushed us in projects and ghettos (as you know, the projects and ghettos looked WAY worse back in your generation than they do now). That was your/our struggle. Yet, what came out of that struggle was a sense of community and more togetherness than you see now. Now, it is the opposite. Instead of putting all blacks together in ghettos (the government saw that we were creating cultures like hip hop and other good things from these ghettos): the government now splits blacks up, gentrification, and now Blacks are scattered all around different areas and no longer live in predominantly Black communities together. This creates a whole new set of problems that you did not experience

High rises aren't Acorn Projects. High rises are privately owned and called City Towers. Before they were sold off, they were originally called Apollo Houses. The reason why people call them Acorn is because when Acorn 1, 2 and 3 were torn down around 1999, the city moved most of the residents into City Towers and Mohr houses during the construction. Highrises, Cypress and Mohr were separate hoods from Acorn before Acorn was remodeled 1 and 2 were renamed Town Center and Courtyard and Acorn 3 were turned into single family homes. Those dudes are young. Acorn hasn't been holding it down for a decade. Truth be told, Acorn has ran the entire Lowell Park area for over 30 years.
