California Plant Community Statuses & Designations

Most plant communities in California are evaluated and assigned a conservation status rank. The ranking system includes a global rank and a state rank. I describe those ranking systems and go over plant communities that are and those that are not sensitive. Finally, I go over California sensitive plant community references including: CDFW's California Natural Community List; CDFW's California Sensitive Natural Communities list; and CNPS' online version of A Manual of California Vegetation.
