man...the sad part is knowing that if dude just had a little more guidance and a better school, he would have turned out completely different. you can see the inner child in this dude, that just wanted to be encouraged and led to the right path...like us all..but instead was led down a life of anger and pain..that he unleashed on the world around him..like a lot of us also do...Im 31 years old and can still remember my kindergarten teachers name and impact on my life...Her name was Ms. Bowles. teachers are so underappreciated man. they seriously have the power to change lives and change history. respect to monica and all the teachers out there. we love and need you. pay teachers more. peace.

I don't know about a better school I think that's a cop out. I went to a shxtty inner city school and never went to jail and I've had a good life. Public school teachers are a problem because by definition they're mediocre at best when it comes to the subject they teach. They only have a degree in education and they are given a book showing what to teach in the subject they are not experts at. I knew more about American history, WWII and read more books than my teachers. I never had a teacher impress me and I usually loved to argue with them. Not about petty things but about the subject they taught especially if I knew they were wrong or teaching a low brow method of learning something or low brow interpretation of the events in history. School is what you make of it even if your school is made up of dirt floors, wooden desks, no computers and ten subject manuals you have to share with other students.

It's disheartening that our upbringing & life circumstances can affect the rest of our lives & often times we have no control over things like where we were born & raised, who our parents are, & what our social status is. It is great to see the man in the video have hope, change his perspective, & turn his life around through education. Hopefully he is able to maintain this outlook. & Respect to the brave teacher & others like her, they can't be paid enough. With that said, US prisons need major reformation. For profit private prisons should be outlawed. My question is: In a ideal world, if the government provided all resources & programs possible. How can the US prison system truly offer an opportunity to inmates to change & reinvent themselves as human beings if prisons are run by ethnic, corrupt, backstabbing, for-profit, criminal organizations? Yes, the so called 'big 4'.

Thank you for introducing this to people who wouldn’t have seen it. I’m a former CO, and I wish my state and every state for that matter had a program like this. For the first time in his life Mr. Flores found a purpose. For the first time in his life Mr. Flores knows hope. And I believe for the first time in his life Mr. Flores is truly happy. He said he dreams big, and I believe that. I hope he makes it to Harvard Law, and focuses his attention on prison reform. As a correction’s officer, I treated everybody firmly, fairly, and consistently. I didn’t judge. A majority of the inmates I sat on weren’t bad guys, they just got caught. I wasn’t above the law in my youth, I just didn’t get caught. Thank you for your channel. It gives perspective to a system that can do so much better than it does. I’m sorry your life took the turns that it did, but I’m proud that you’ve turned your darkness into light for others. God bless from Houston Texas!

But it was guys with something to lose and who thought twice about the bullshit. People learned how to communicate better so they didn’t have to fight (as much and if they did it was handled honorably in the blinds.

The mkst imlortant question - So when will you kill yourself !? This was aimed at getting dides oit of that mythological state of mind that they were gokmg to go inside and live like Billy the Kid or Pancho Villa for the next 40 years. No. Your mind won't take it and you certainly have the odds against you. How much time can you do !? As much as you can.

You’re right bout the teachers quitting often, I’ve seen that a lot. Or after a period they’re apathetic towards inmates/convicts. I was a GED mentor for a teacher in old Corcoran who was a STRONG lady. She dealt with ALOT Homie and even said “ I’ve been on the mainline for 15 years, don’t try to play me”, hahaha. She was kind & fair. The convicts took it upon ourselves to make sure nobody did TOO much. Can’t stop shit frm hitting the fan but cud stop bullshit from falling on her. Feel me

Hey Dubs...good video. I enjoy your channels and have learned from them. So at 9:16, Mr Flores is talking about "enhancements" added to his sentence. I think that's seems unfair, like the system is stacked against the person convicted. It also seems that overall, the CDC has more interest in maintaining its population rather than rehabilitation. But I assume you believe that a right or conservative leaning state government would somehow be better. Please explain that to us. The teacher, Miss Monica at 17:16 is the example of someone who cares and that in my opinion is what we need more of. I do also believe that your videos, overall are a positive influence. Keep up the good work 👍🏼

I HOPE AND PRAY🙏 that he will get parole and never spend his life in prison. What a waste for him AND society. I'm left extremely frustrated and feeling so sad with tears running down my face. Just would like to say that this man was a fool at one time, straight out knucklehead with the business. The last time I seen this vato was in the mid 90’s in LA county jail going through courtline in the blue and white jumpsuit. Also known as the clown suit, no disrespect but thats what they called the suit, (Gang Module blues) or state module blues but for Hoser it was the Gang Module suit. I was tripping out when I seen his face on you tube. Great story and very blessed to see this homie turn his life around. It can be done, I gave the system 16 years of my life, ex gang member and ex drug addict. Now I’m a Union Local 300 Journeyman Laborer. I pay rent, I pay bills, I’ve been clean from drugs and alcohol for 15 years. So it can be done. But Hoser, I hope he gets out I hope he gets a date. I’m around a lot of ex-lifers who are doing good and are very successful out here. Hard working men that think, act, and respond different. Truly changed men that that where in the mix at one time. And with that said And I repeat I hope ad pray he gets a date.
