Hi I applied for federal COVID relief in March when program first opened. I was notified I was approved in May. Even though being approved in May, it took until Mid June for my landlords to receive a partial payment of the relief funds. I’ve contacted program several times per month, I’m told I’m approved, but they have no idea when funds will be released. As of today still waiting. “You will receive an email when funds are being released”.

Hi Vincent! Yes, it applied to anyone who could demonstrate that covid legitimately affected them. Unfortunately this program no longer exists.

Do you know if I can get it myself if landlord doesn't agree and we have a verbal agreement that I was rendering services for him in exchange for rent this whole last year? Will they ask for rental agreement? He doesn't want to be audited and participate.

Hi Alex, Thanks for your comment! Yes. You do need a written agreement as one of the items needed to apply for the rental assistance program.

For anyone watching this - Please be aware that if your tenant doesn't want to participate (their's no legal action for them to), then you're not going to be eligible. As usual, CA puts out another half ass measure. I've told my tenants that if they don't participate, I'm going to sue for breach of contract in small claims court. I may not be able to evict, but there's still recourse.

@@gm2161 You're the one with the protections. If he's unwilling, and you are, then I'd say you're in a better position for now. I believe you That being said, let's say your landlord doesn't want to participate, they can take you to court for the entire sum owed. They won't be able to evict you on it, but can sue for breach of contract.

I applied for this program March 31, 2021 and so did all my tenants and we have all green check marks and still no contact from a case manager or any help from the customer service number, now going on 3 months Im pretty sure a lot more landlords have exhausted their savings to pay the mortgage because a forbearance doesn’t help what we needed was a deferment of all these lost months of rent and still to this day not one program has provided any assistance - smh

Omg yes i applied in march also and i have tried to contact my case manager with out any success and it just seems like i have summited everything and then they request more and more but never seem to be available to answer any questions

Exactly my friend, then I thought they’ll finally pay out some relief before the moratorium expires June 30th but then they just ofcourse extended the moratorium till September tenants still don’t have to pay but the landlord still does. I have no idea why in 3 months still no landlord help. It’s pretty messed up because on the news they’re talking all this good stuff like we have billions of dollars to help property owners and everything is going to be okay but the landlord still has no clue of their status on the relief promised
