No one is talking about the massive amount of homeowners insurance cancellations that took place in nor cal about 3 months ago!! My parents received a cancellation with no warning nor reasoning, and so did all the neighbors! Then this huge fire happens!? I guarantee lots of people just figured they would figure out the ins. Later since they’d have to shop around. Thank God my parents found insurance right away but it came with a huge price tag for very little insured. 😢

It's not that people aren't talking about it. It's that YT diletes coments that don't follow their "values". Meaning the groups suffering the most from these "natural dysasters" (whyte and asien) are having their coments removed. They're "removing" all the locals there so the new "millions" that are coming to the US from the country below us can take over our spots, if yu know what I mean.

Natalie, very good point. Many people very under insured or don’t have renters insurance, which leaves them completely with nothing. It’s agonizing.

It's still south of there as of Wednesday afternoon. Hasn't reached Shingletown or 44, but there have been evacuations there.

It has been realized that 100 years of fire suppression allowed the build up of fuel. This build up contributes to the size and intensity of these fires. As a result of this realization of fire suppression being a factor in large and intense fires a major effort is being made to...increase fire suppression.

They can thin out the homeless in Sidewalk National Park but they cannot thin out the trees, makes perfect sense but results in disaster.

Huge wildfires are no surprise. We allowed Arrowhead and Niagara to come in and cap off all the natural springs that fed lush green valleys that stopped fires in their tracks. The slow decline of wild life is also a tragic consequence.

California fires always jump from house-to-house miles apart and then burns the wilderness between them. Oddly the exact opposite of how fires burn in other parts of the country. LOL.

@@wendelltroyer When insurance cancels for homeowners, by state and federal law they send what is called a non renewal. It does not cancel immediately. per se. Not unless they cancel because the application had a lie on it. They must run out the remainder of the policy, and it is designed to give the mortgage holder notice the property wont be covered. Then if you do not get NEW insurance before it runs out, YOUR OWN MORTGAGE company will automatically do Forced insurance. The fact all these people in this area got non renewal notices adds to they reason they all are burning their own homes. Yes they are all still covered.

Amazing how one firebug can cause all this. Better put cameras on all parks and high fire risk areas. The Carr fire caused by a backfiring car I believe. Others by pge lines sparking in winds . All insurance companies are dropping people even in non fire areas. They cannot sustain the costs caused by people living in high risk areas. Even car insurance and renters insurance has skyrocketed .

Facts. I left cal fire nearly a year ago after being employed from May 4th 2018-august 9th 2023. Left because as a top step firefighter 1 (which takes roughly 4 years) I was making 18.50/hr. Tired of sacrificing my summer, fall, and personal life to put in hours to make a livable wage (I'm in the bay area). I left for tesla as a fire response specialist last August which tripled my gross pay, however if cal fire quadrupled pay for all personnel I would go back in a heart beat. Miss running legit emergencies every day

You cannot manage this scale, we are talking about millions of acres, there is not enough people, money to sustain clearing these massive areas and the growth due to the high number of sunshine hours per year and lots of rain and snow in winter means that the brush and undergrowth is back in as little as a few months. I cut down the brush on my land and it is 2 foot high wall of vegetation in no time. This is not the midwest or the south where nature can take years to grow back, this is fast growth on the west coast and mountains . There is a reason why the tallest trees on the planet are in CA, nature grows back in no time.
