That was really very very interesting! I’m so glad we got to see it! I I think you said it was out in California that this was done and I am Chrisley amazed at how many different equipment types it took to harvest the nuts❣️❣️❣️♥️♥️It was amazing how clean the ground was when I got done sweeping up the nuts. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so clean after a harvest❣️❣️Gestures you came back on the video at the end, I was thinking, oh! I did not get to see any of the walnuts up Close and then immediately you had a view of that and it was exactly what I wanted to see so, thank you for that! This was an excellent video and thank you for doing it and thank you to your wife😊❣️💕💕💕

I thought I’d watched all your videos, but now I realize I missed this one. Thanks for making it. Now I know how walnuts are harvested and shipped off for the next phase (way before cookies and banana bread and oil and hulls 😊). Like many others, I started watching KZbin during the lock down.The channels I continue to watch now that we are “free” again, are cow/calf, dairy, and sheep ranches. FTR is one of my favorites. What I love about farmers is not just the animals, it is also the building and maintaining of the land and the equipment.

I know you made this video about a year ago but if sure brought back memories. I lived in Northern California And my friend had a small walnut orchard nothing as big as yours and she hired my kids to pick walnuts off the ground and she paid them like a dollar a bucket and they would think they were all done and she’s like no you’re there will be more tomorrow and that’s when she brought the tree shaker in and my kids was like oh no mom LOL. It was a good experience for them thank youFor bringing back lots of memories for us..

Totally fascinating. 😮 I had no idea how English walnuts got from the trees to my house! Here in Tennessee we have black walnuts. You pick them up from the ground by hand. You dump them along your farm drive or drive way and run over them. This removes the green hull. Then you and the squerrils race to see who gets to pick up the most nuts. I always learn something new on your videos. Thanks, Mrs. FTR, for making a great video. Loved it.

I enjoyed your story of the Walnut harvest at your folks ranch. Wonderful to see. I've had pecan trees in Texas, and helped harvest other nuts too, Believe me, one gets tired of stooping and hunting to find the little jewels. The common sense approach and technology developed to make the harvest manageable and affordable is a real tribute to the craftsmanship of these great States of America! I hope those beautiful Walnut trees yield big for many years to come!

Great job Macey and Mom. Couple questions: 1.)How many Walnuts does a tree produce annually? 2.)Custom harvesting or self? Rent equipment? 3.) Rejection rates? Love the old red Barn. Just tore my great grandpa's down (un repairable) and making all our furniture from it.
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
At this age the trees are making about 30 lbs of nuts per tree per year but that should go up a bit as the trees get bigger. My uncle owns all the equipment and he and my dad (plus a few helpers) run it. I’m not sure on rejection rates that would be done at the dryer. Thanks Tyler!

Excellent job by Mrs FTR. Can you include some data such as how many acres and tons per acre. How are walnut prices this year and what is expected in future.
@MRSFTR5 жыл бұрын
Richard Williams Thank you! It was a fun video to shoot! It is a 20 acre orchard and produces 1.76 tons per acre roughly, about 30 lbs per tree. Rumor price is $1.20, however they will not know for sure until next April. The prices are up compared to last year, but they were exceptionally low last year.
