I live at 7000ft altitude at the foothills of the Rockies. It’s hot in the summer at winters can be cold as low at 15 degrees. Snows into early May. Please recommend some some all year round plants. I have VFT’s that eat our plentifully flies but would like a few more.

Try Sarracenia! The American pitcher plants can grow alongside the flytraps very happily!

What are lighting requirements for growing carnivorous plants in my home in Northest Ohio? Winter weather is not kind!

If you want to grow the plants indoors, you can grow some nice cape sundews or Mexican Pinguicula! They like a really sunny windowsill and to always be sitting in a deep saucer of distilled water

Best environment to grow Pinguicula in Nor Cal? I dont have many bugs indoors or in my seed garage greenhouse ? Hoping to grow outside. Thanks.
@California_Carnivores Жыл бұрын
It’s tough to grow Mexican Pinguicula outdoors unless you’re in a perfect pocket; like coastal San Diego or San Francisco even. You can try growing Pinguicula primuliflora as they like being outside, but keep them well watered and sheltered from afternoon sun

@California_Carnivores Your videos are very informative...you leave nothing to chance. I appreciate the content. I am learning what I can BEFORE I make my purchase so I am better prepared for success. What time of year would you recommend purchase if I live in zone 5B/6B Ohio? (Depending when I look it up, I'm either in zone 5 or 6B!)

@@murieltillman9554 As long as you add a heat pack, you can order indoor tropical plants in winter and the temperate plants ship well when dormant! But you can wait to order until spring as well 😄

I have been using Maxi fertilizer for my nepenthes indoors and they are causing mold. Would you have a different fertilizer that you would recommend? For nepenthes
@California_Carnivores2 жыл бұрын
You can try a different orchid fertilizer instead or it may be a light and air circulation issue. We don’t see much mold on our Nepenthes. So you may want to consider increasing light or adding a small fan first.

What does a 30 year old cape sundew look like?

Over time the plant will get large, but they do top out at a certain size. They drop a ton of seeds in their pots and just keeping make more babies so the pot never dies out.

We don’t currently have plans to reopen to the public; we’ve been able to make so many more plants now that we’re closed and have been able to reach people all over the world to help them learn about these amazing plants 😊

this content is better than the blue hair girl. sorry but she talks like a karen and as if were all children, just feels patronizing. so yeah, not watching that channel. then this video pops up, it has a totally different feel and it just felt like someone nerding out about plants with us. im sure shes just as nerdy and knows what shes talking about but tact matters way more than having an interest when youre making an informative video.
