@@OfficialDJTasawennateken Americans have been moving into Mexico since 1825. Look up the Fredonia Rebellion, the Texas Revolution, Fremont in California, the Confederates in Mexico, the Menonites, the Mormons, the miners in Northern Mexico, the retirees today and on and on. Just becuase one freak complained does not mean he speaks for everyone. Two million Americans live in Mexico today.

I've been researching a move to SE Asia. I moved from San Jose to Phoenix 18 years ago. It will cost me more to live in SE Asia when I factor in homeownership. Food is the same or more depending on what and how I eat. Electric is higher and AC would likely be a 24/7 thing while in Phoenix it's a 4-5 month thing. I still plan to move but without thinking it will be cheaper. There are many places in the US that don't have the "endless grind" and have a much lower cost of living. It's really only a few tiny areas where that isn't true.

I lived in Merida, Yucatan from August 2020 up until March of this year and after I received my residency I relocated to Guadalajara, Jalisco and this place is a great city to live in. Food,arts,culture,arhcitecture,history,nature, nightlife this area has it all. Not to mention a very central location within Mexico and an international aiport that is well connected to quite a few countries as well as many cities. I'm not a 6,7 or 8 figure entrepeneur yet but I'm on my way there and your videos have been more than beneficial since I discovered you over a year ago. I arrived in SoCal with my parents in 1956 from Stockholm Sweden, I was 5 years old. I grew up in California and LOVED it. We were in the middle of everything, Newport Beach, Palm Springs, Lake Arrowhead, Downtown L.A. where all within an hour drive of our home. Being a "Californian" I often tell people that I really only had one ambition in life; to live at the beach. So I moved to Santa Monica in 1979 when I was 27 years old, renting a one bedroom apartment at 5th and Bay St for $250 a month. Over the years I lived in Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Playa del Rey, and Marina del Rey. I had my sailboat in Marina del Rey for 25 years. 2008 was the year that brought it all down. My wife's father died, her mother broke her hip and my wife lost her HR job, (after laying off 250 people). I stood one afternoon on my porch in Santa Monica apartment and gazed towards the southern intersection where I could actually see the building that I had first moved into in 1979. Then it struck me that here I was, having moved so many times , right at the same place I was in 1979. The only fundamental difference were that I was married now, had a rent of $2,800 instead of $250. In a nutshell I really hadn't gotten anywhere in in 29 years. SO, we decided to avoid a looming disaster, cut our loses and move to The Woodlands TX. We lived there 10 years, we were finally able to buy a house that, if it had been in Santa Monica would have cost way over a million bucks. I loved being a home owner after all those renter years as a renter. But after 10 years of oppressive heat and our house nearly flooding during Hurricane Harvey, we decided suburban home ownership in a cul de sac in Texas just wasn't our style so we cashed in on rising real estate prices and moved to San Miguel de Allende. My father sold the family home in California of 50+ years recently, and, as sad as that was, visiting L.A. had actually become so depressing I was weirdly glad. California today isn't even a shadow of what it used to be. What sticks in my mind the most is that what used to be a 30-40 minute drive to grandpa's house for Christmas or Thanksgiving, is today a 5 hour trek. BTW loved that speedy little drive down Ocean Ave with my old office in the background left 1 Wilshire.

You miss the opportunity to buy your own house when you were younger and maybe a couple of rental properties, since the houses were very cheap in those years, but you can't tell the people how to live their life I guess.
@amusingarts
@amusingarts 2 жыл бұрын
@@Gallo2023 Yes Beto, When I lived in Venice Beach you could buy a great house for about $100,000 a block from the beach. The problem was interest rates at that time were sky high, 15-20%. Also being self employed was not a recipe for steady income. It's OK, I finally bought a house when I was in my late 50's and discovered that living in the suburbs of Texas is a soul robbing experience. I rent now in a 500+ year old town and walk everywhere. No more wasting life in an A/Ced transportation pod crawling at 20mph over acres and acres of asphalt. Good riddance!

@@Gallo2023 Yes Beto, houses were cheap and so were wages and salaries. In the 70's in southern California $20,000- $30,000 was a pretty good yearly income. A new Mustang cost about $3,500. My Dad first house he bought new for $9,000. What you have to realize is that in the United States overall, salaries have stagnated since the 70's. If wages had kept up with inflation the minimum wage today would be $23.00. I'm not telling anyone how to live just trying to relate how it used to be to people who may nopt have experience the ups and downs of life for 70+ years.

Try doing that in Cali! My wife and I are retired and live in San Miguel de Allende. My son and I speak decent Spanish and my wife is trying to learn (it would be her sixth language). We have embraced Mexico for what it is, and there’s a lot to love about it. My biggest pet peeve since moving here is gringos from the US or Canada who move here and try to change Mexico into where they come from. What about the language barrier in Mexico (Spanish) verses Canada (English, mostly)? People tend to underestimate the difficulty of acquiring a foreign language, especially as they approach middle age and then ultimately retirement. Seems like you'd better be a youthful multimillionaire (and then some) and a quick study when it comes to foreign languages. Then there are the cultural similarities between the U.S. and Canada verses the cultural differences south of the U.S. border. Learning to adapt in a foreign place, too different from your own where presumably you plan to live, could eat up a lot of your time and energy. If you enjoy that, then a language-differentiated destination could make sense for you.
@youtubeuserzzzz
@youtubeuserzzzz 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly speaking, "language barriers", are usually an issue with Citizens from the 5 Eyes Countries. Take Scandinavian Countries-for example-, they move all over the world because during their youth years, they develop an ear for multiple languages. It's what they learn. So in their Host Countries, they make efforts towards the local language. Whereas Individuals from the 5 Eyes Countries, develop a mindset of "everyone knows English, I'll be OK". Which is NOT a respectful approach when exploring the possibilities of moving to a Country that is NOT first language English. Sure many people have knowledge of English but it's NOT their first language. I myself have seen Monolingual English Speakers, get upset at a local, who didn't speak English very well. I thought to myself. We are NOT in one of the 5 Eyes Countries. So why would you expect a Local's English to be great? English is NOT the official or de facto language here. I speak 4 Languages. They were acquired in my youth years. Which makes it easier to grasp another language, be it in my 40s, 50s etc. It's best to learn at least 2 languages. Much easier to start young and NOT wait until middle age.

Latin America seems to cycle back to socialism over and over again with not so great results (ends in disaster), Latin American leaders (right or left) fail to address effectivly the high level of poverty no matter if the right or left has power. I’m sitting in Carmel, looking at homes today. There is no more beautiful place or friendlier people. Yes, I could move to Mexico, but at what risk to lifestyle and happiness?

You could retain the same lifestyle for a fraction of the cost. Happiness? Idk, that depends on each individual and their life goals. If your family and friends are that important to you, stay where you are and don't move at all.

I would love to live in Carmel such a beautiful region. I live in beautiful Queensland Australia. Pristine beaches here and I can stroll in 12 minutes. Built high end beach house with all the gadgets…enjoying living here But now we have a Biden running our country into the ground with their green socialism. Our energy is now horrendously expensive and I loathe the idiots that are in power. Consequently considering moving however my research leads to ‘No Where To Run’. New Zealand has fallen to a Marxist authoritarian regime with a Elite Maori agenda. No place for Caucasians especially males! South East Asia don’t like. I don’t want to go anywhere near socialism Marxists. Love from Australia

I have lived in Cali all my life ....definately not what it once was....(Homelessness out of control) How the tables have turned....people from the US flocking to Mexico. I will be retiring in three yrs. and Mexico will be the ideal place to live. I am fortunate to have a dual citizenship...

I'm 65. Been hearing about the decline of CA for all of my adult life. Silly.

Not near your age yet, but I lived and worked in CA for a long time when I was younger. It has declined SIGNIFICANTLY over the years. I've seen entire areas that use to be nice middle class neighborhoods turn 'hood'. Parts of LA don't even look like the USA anymore. Parts of San Francisco and Oakland are just as bad. And the whole Central Valley area is dotted with blighted, decaying towns that are nuanced with drugs, illegals, and gangs. Poverty and homelessness are getting really bad pretty much everywhere but no one talks about it. But, not all of California has seen the rot. There are parts of the state that are still very pretty, and if you are wealthy and live in one of these areas you won't really see the decline. Eventually, even the wealthy will be affected by the decisions being made by the state's politicians though. What the state government is doing there is not sustainable. It is becoming too expensive to do business there, and many companies are moving to other states. a LOT of small businesses in California's biggest cities have closed since the coof, and many will not reopen. The average Californian isn't anything like Pelosi, or Newsom, of Maxine Waters. I have family there (older, retirees) who had to sell their house and move into an RV because they couldn't afford the property taxes anymore. There is a slow exodus of businesses and working class people out of California. The politicians need to collect revenue to support their ridiculous policies, so who will they get the money from? The statistics are real. Its not silly at all.
