I also take thyme from the grocery store and root it, that does amazingly well too! I have a garden full of thyme outside from rooting grocery store thyme

I'm growing two stalks from my grocery store celery! They are outside right now in a medium sized container I will be moving indoors at the end of September (first frost in my area around 9/27) and look forward to harvesting and regrowing all winter. I already had this going and appreciate your enthusiastic encouragement!

Celery has been a great part of my Family's diet for many Decades, especially when juicing. Nothing new about the health benefits of Celery and there's No Need to Juice a whole bunch alone for a Great Detox that Flushes out the System, boost the Immune System and provide Health benefits―that's a Myth and Propaganda to sell books. That's what many have found out. It can be juiced with Cucumber and Green apple.

@CaliKim294 ай бұрын
t’s great to hear you’re giving it a go even with the limited sunlight! 🌿 In Iceland’s winter, with just 2 hours of sunlight, consider using a grow light to supplement the light your plant receives. This can help your plant stay healthy and continue growing despite the shorter days. I have tons of videos on grow lights, just go to my main channel and yes the search feature. Keep up the effort-you’ve got this, and your plant will appreciate your dedication! Please be sure to click the like button the videos you watch, and a MUST..subscribe! Would you love to have you follow and hear how your adventures go! CaliKim

Thanks for the nice reply Cali. Love your words.... Ah the Fall always reminds me of early American films. (1) Well, renowned British weather is one of the craziest weathers in the World. It can have Sunshine, rain, mist, hailstones and snow on the same day. (2) Some people erect greenhouses with heaters(Costly). Some hardy crops can grow up December. No indoor gardening I am afraid.... because the blessed Cat wants to get involved too. Best of luck :)

Here in Utah, we have two seasons: desert heat and snow. Celery only grows in this zone as an annual. That's enough time for kitchen scraps to grow leaves, but not stalks, unless you time things extremely well, use row covers, etc. Leaves are fine for cooking, though.

@nunyabiznez63814 жыл бұрын
No place on the celery seed packet did it mention temperature. I live in Florida and I have repeatedly tried to germinate celery but to no avail. The seeds cannot be purchased locally until mid March. So I see that the strategy I need to follow is buy my seeds in March and then plant them indoors in an air conditioned room around Sept-Oct then plant them outdoors around November and in a shady spot so they will grow November-March. By March we get days in the 80's and this is April and we have already had days in the 90's. I do like the idea of regrowing as a short cut. While I use the stalks as everyone one does, my primary reason for wanting to grow celery is I like the greens and in grocery stores they always cut off the greens before selling them or I should say the supplier does before it even gets to the stores. I use the greens as seasoning and in soups and salads. Now I see a way I can grow celery and continuously harvest the greens which I actually use more than the stalks. Thank you for this very informative video.
@nunyabiznez63814 жыл бұрын
As a follow up, I have one batch of celery that finally germinated after weeks of sitting in my windowsill in my airconditioned cottage. I now have about ten plants about two inches tall.Also I have two celery hearts in water currently growing some roots. Finally, Bok Choy, or Pak Choy sometimes known as Chinese cabbage has turned out to be a reasonably good substitute for celery while I am waiting for my celery plants to grow. The stocks when put in a soup or salad taste very similar and the leaves make an excellent substitute for spinach which I am also struggling to get to grow. I planted my Bok Choy in March and I got 90% germination rate and they are now my biggest greens and huge. I can't eat them as fast as they are growing. They are now my go to green. If you are struggling to get your celery and other greens to grow and you live in a hot climate with poor soil conditions I strongly recommend them until your other greens get going.
