I'm aware of Caline Power Supply through JHS Pedals video titled How to Build a Guitar Pedalboard: Beginner Tutorial and then I come across to your videos. Josh Scott endorsed Caline Power Supply. Your contribution on the budget power supply is much appreciated. This mean more pedalboard can be build. As a drummer, I really need an affordable high quality power supply to power my stompbox to layer guitar and bass tracks. You even help Caline to correct their flaw design before it hit the market. That's a great achievement and contribution. I'm really glad to found your useful videos regarding affordable isolated power supply. This means so much. Thank you.

Nice demo! My old Boss pedalboard served me well for many years...until I introduced a new pedal to the equation. I started getting a serious ground loop but couldn't for the life of me figure out why. I tried replacing cables and pedals one at a time. The only thing that stopped the ground loop was removing that new pedal (Electro-Harmonix). I found out it doesn't play nice with other pedals on a daisy chain. After some research, I found that so many others were having the same problem. So I tried powering the EH pedal on its own, which means having to run two power cables from my pedalboard instead of one (small PITA). No ground loop. So now I'm considering new power supplies like the Caline. I think your review may have pushed them over the top for me. Now, to try to make it fit inside my Boss pedalboard case...

Thank you for watching! Yes at that point I was simply a consumer of Caline trying to get my problem solved. They were very helpful and listened to my feedback, to which their engineers looked at the circuit again and identified what components needed to change in order to fix the problem. Since then I've been helping them out where I can with their product line. It's a great power hobby and I enjoy helping out the community! Thanks for the video! Considering getting a 206, but one thing is bothering my perfectionism. 9V outputs go 100, 100, 300, 300, 100, 100, 100, 100, 500, 500 mA. Is this actually right? Two 100s, two 300s, four 100s, two 500s? Is this actually on the inside, or did someone mess up? Usually power outputs increase as they go left to right, or follow some kind of more intuitive pattern.
@Bassguitarist19853 ай бұрын

Hope this makes sense. Can 2 of these be linked together by running a cable between the 18v out of one into the 18v in on the other or should each have their own power cable from the wall source.

Run each power brick with their own wall adapter is best. While what you suggest is theoretically possible it's severely limits the output current of the second brick if you do it that way

Hi..i have the cp 207..i don't know what happened but most of the 9V ports is now reading half voltage or less..one totally no voltage output..few ports still reads 9V but unable to power 200-500 mAh pedals. Only the 12 and 18 volt ports are both good I believe..What could be the issue?
@Bassguitarist19855 ай бұрын
I don't know without looking at the board but I am aware of an issue where the converter circuit from the incoming DC voltage that converts it to AC voltage, that oscillator circuit has had issues. It could be a simple MOSFET failing in that circuit that may need replacing. There are two of them. If one fails then you get a half wave and half the rectified voltage, which would explain your symptoms. You are not the only one to mention this type of failure, for that reason Caline and I Are beta testing a new updated circuit board design that actually improves this oscillator circuit and at the same time eliminates the linear voltage regulator outputs. There are still some issues to work through. I'm really pushing them to increase the amperage capacity, that also creates more complexity.

Hi there! Thank you for such an informative video, I have a couple of questions please.. Will this unit power Boss pedals correctly? I have (in order of placement) TU-2, CH-1, DS-1, PH-3, DD-6, and don't want to do anything to mess up my pedals. Also, in your opinion, is this the best order to place the pedals or would you have a better suggestion? Thanks in advance, and great channel..

No problem at all with Boss pedals! I'd do TU-2, DS-1, CH-1, PH-3, and DD-6. Gain pedals first, then modulation pedals last. Tuner should always be first.

Do you have any experience with the CP-204? I couldn't find any reviews for it. Thanks.
@Bassguitarist19855 ай бұрын
No I have not reviewed that particular model. I know that it is not a true isolation power supply rather a daisy chain type of topology. It has separate outputs where if you short one the rest will still operate. I haven't heard of anything negative of it though.
@tomaszmichnik5 ай бұрын
@@Bassguitarist1985 I'm a little worried that the pedals won't hum... But the small size appeals to me a lot.
@Bassguitarist19855 ай бұрын
@@tomaszmichnik there's a chance that it may not hum at all. The bigger issue with power supplies that a lot of people don't know is the actual power supply circuitry within the pedal. If they are not properly filtered which a lot of early digital pedals are not for example, those perturbations and noise will feed back into the power supply lines and through the other pedals if they are daisy chained. With an isolated power supply it doesn't matter if the pedal has inadequate filtering it's on its own separate circuitry in the power supply and won't bleed to other pedals. Sure they are sharing the same ground plane through the quarter inch from your guitar through to the pedals to your amp but with one path to ground there's less likely to be any noise. Still isolated power supplies are the way to go for any potential noise issues being squashed

I bought Caline CP-209 includes 18v dc power adapter. Every time I plug the power adapter to the 110v outlet, one prong of the adapter always sparks the moment it touches the inside of the outlet. What do you think cause this spark? I don’t think this is safe to use.

There should be a TINY spark as the wall adapter has internal capacitor that is charging up. It should be minor and nothing to worry about.
