Holy Cow Jeff…! That footage close to the end, where the dozer dropped down (sunk down) in the “sea” of dust, was a heart stopper for me, and then when you backing up, and turning, that dozer just kept leaning over…, too freaky for me., I am sure I would have big a hole in the seat, and not with my teeth. Great variety of camera angles, great video, Thank you sir.

Growing up in Southern California in the 60's we would have to haul our own household garbage to the dump and the landfill would cut slots like that to bury garbage into and then pile it over and over keeping the majority of garbage under a layer of dirt. The hill grew taller and wider as time went by. Now that site is being used for industrial businesses from what I can tell using google earth. Seen more Seagulls there then at the beach. The beach was 70 miles away. The video from various veiws is pretty cool, thanks Jeff.

Especially with how fine your soil is the water automatically fills the voids left from the big rock I’ve been well what your doing and had a big bridge and it was 4-5 feet deep Jay’s getting a derma braid the worst is corse sand coming over top of blade as it rolling and the fan launches it forward then the wind sand blasts you keeps ya looking young people pay good money for dermbraission
@jeffsnider35882 жыл бұрын
I like your different camera views, valve cover cam, undercarriage cam, cab top cam but question is has the camera ever fallen off and been crushed by the blade or track? Don't know about you but I really hate dust! Wonder if high pressure mist sprayers on the blade would reduce the dust, would require 2 or 3 hundred gallon plastic water tank mounted somewhere like over the ripper frame but the fine dust really is a maintenance cost both in labor and wear and tear. Combines used a fan blower system over the picking head to blow the dust away wonder if anyone has done something like this to earth movers?
@TrevorDennis1002 жыл бұрын
Are those icicles hanging from under the dozer? About a third in from the left @6:50. I have a feeling that the more a camera plays up losing audio etc., the more likely it is to be put in harms way where it might be crushed or melted. Do accountants recognise KZbin 'consumables' as a legitimate business cost? That's a great sky @15:00 I hope you don't mind Jeoff, but I have borrowed that to use with the Photoshop Sky Replacement tool.

love watching the nine! Just got done working my two 583H's up and across the state from ya in Nampa. Say Senior Jeff P. Dirt, you ever have to replace a recoil spring in a nine? My tractors are pretty much stock D8 undercarriages and I need to inspect on of my recoil springs cause it's holding grease but dropping track really easy. seriously the idler is constantly coming in and out. but I don't want to die a horrible death and have it hurt the whole time I'm dying.
@clydeacor19112 жыл бұрын
Howdy crazy 🤪. All you can do is turn into it and ride it down. Ya that's the flour that flows like water. You almost need to put a box scrapper on your ripper frame to catch all of the stuff coming off your track frames Lol...

Fantastic video as normal. We all knew what was coming at some point which added some suspense to it. Not only great filming ,way better than many can manage on KZbin , but educational regarding the geological factors involved in this work. Hope my posts are not too long but how many yards is the D9 pushing generally on this work? The other thing is that the engine never seems to change tone pushing flat or going up the ramp which has to be 30degrees? What incline could the dozer actually climb without a load before the tracks lost traction? 50degrees? Great video again. Ron

When I was young I was put on the 9H , I ended up bending a ripper lift cylinder, I wasn’t too popular. At that time none could be sourced in NA. They gave me the equivalent 70’s D155 to rip with. It wasn’t even close to ripping what the 9 could. The only time I hated the 9H was when i had to spread burn piles. No cab.. loving your videos 😊

I've dropped my old D9G off many a drop off, the first time you do it is a bit daunting but once you know the machine it's great. The secret is, if your gonna do it, do it don't piss around, hesitation can get you in trouble. I near got stuck once and snookered as I hit a spring so only had one option. Back off a straight drop rock bench about 25ft high. I got the loader and put 15 loads of dirt against the bench to land on, got to the balance point, dropped the rippers as it went I pulled and stood hard on the left clutch and brake. It was a bit hard landing. I heard after a few weeks that The truck drivers waiting said that guys got some big balls hahaha. Now whenever there's anything people find scary at that quarry they say. Naaaaa I'm not doing a Glidden (my last name)

Those powerful machines are daunting when you operate them and compare them to other things. Then you go to Google maps and you zoom out until these massive machines fade into a tiny spec and disappear. Then the city disappears and even the country gets quite small. hey Jeff; just helped a buddy get his D9G (electric start; 15 ft blade) going after sitting for 8 years at the top of a hill near Conifer Colorado; the biggest issue I see are super loose tracks -- the tensioner on one side is shimmed with a stump! ; what would it take to repair tensioners (assuming they're shot)?
@Jpaydirt2 жыл бұрын
Pretty dangerous it you have to remove the spring, if the caging bolt is still intact and the pilot is not broke they can be removed, but if that stuff is broken do not! remove the cover bolts. you can have a rod threaded to go thru the center, (after you remove the broken center bolt) and put a plate over the front and rear covers and remove it, email me your # and I can send you pictures of the tool I made jpaydirt7@gmail.com
