Not a Cthulhu fan but this looks like a fantastic release in the grand old tradition of gaming supplements that we rarely see these days.

I'm so glad they've moved the default time back to 1922. I often start my games in the early 20s, and for a while, it seemed like a lot of Chaosium stuff was set in (and clearly labeled in the case of handouts) in the late 20s.

I like setting most of my Call of Cthulhu campaigns in the early 20s to start too. ~ Jeff

I agree. Players get really excited when events or characters from the books happen.

Wow! So excited for my copy to arrive. I love the direction Chaosium is headed with their books of knowledge. First their series of cults from runequest and now cities in Call of Cthulhu. Love it! Thanks for the review! Awesome as always!

If you remember all of those old-fashioned books with greyish text und greyish background, pages and pages of useless boring text, terrible grey-on-grey pictures and scribbled notes. Those new books are so pretty!

Great review Jeff. Arkham is a must buy for me. Arkham-based campaigns really capture that Lovecraftian feel & can support any size group of players. I would love to see Solo support and detailed Arkham Encounters (Like in the old "Thieves World" or "Cities" or "Bushido")

Awesome! Thanks Jeff! I'm amazed at the amount of resources in this book! Chaosium is really putting their best foot forward with this book.

This appeals to the world builder side of me, even though I haven't played CoC in a very long time.

Looks like a wondrous book indeed. A must have for me. Loving the maps in and out of the book and the newspaper is a great idea. Thanks so much for the review, Jeff.

This looks really cool. I think I mentioned this on the Dispatch, but in all my years of running CofC, I think my players have only ever gone to Arkham once. I often set my games somewhat locally. So, when I lived in Bangor, Maine, that's where a lot of my games were based out of. More recently, Washington D.C. and its surrounds have been my go-to setting. But the idea of going fully down the Lovecraftian New England thing is tempting. Like some Lovecraft County sandbox of Cosmic Horror.

That would be cool!

I own the 1995 Compact Arkham Unveiled, and it's a fine supplement, typical for its time. I'm going to a gaming convention this weekend (GothCon XLVII), and I'll definitely look for this new version - it sure lloks like a step up from previous editions.
