IKR? If you played it on PS4 after not playing the PS3/PC version for a couple of years, you'd be forgiven for believing that the only improvements were the frame rate and resolution. But side by side, it's hard not to be impressed with the amount of work that's gone into this. While the visual style of PS2 games with the lack of real-time shadowing and only very basic real-time lighting was immediately apparent after the PS3 appeared, the difference between PS3 and PS4 wasn't quite as pronounced. In fact, many cross-gen games ended up looking disappointingly similar. The technology (in particular the intensely more detailed lighting model) is only one factor in this though - a lot of it is visual design, or specific much greater discipline and restraint in how effects are used. Back in 2007, devs were like kids who'd just found a gun when it came to real-time stencil shadowing and dynamic lighting. Now, there's much greater focus on the artistic aspects.

ppppft, I cant understand this Skyrim remaster praise.....maybe if you are playing on consoles its a big deal, but on PC there are already plenty of mods that make it better experience than it will EVER be on consoles. So if you can play Skyrim on PC, the remastered edition doesnt have any value. Also I agree with Cyka, TMCC is the best remaster to date, even if they had problems with MP, but you get Halo>CE and Halo 2 Anniversaries that are full graphical remakes and Halo 3 and Halo 4 that are 1080p&60fps remasters. Also next year there will be remake of PC action adventure cult classic Outcast (originally released in 1999), called "Outcast: Second Contact" that is using Unity engine to really bring it up to date. Also modders have themselves made quite a few excellent remakes like Black Mesa (Half-Life remake) HL 2 Cinematic Mod, as well as bringing original Operation Flashpoint campaigns to ARMA 2 engine as "Cold War rearmed mod" So ye, I wouldnt say that "its safe to say" that this is the best remaster of any game to date, there are plenty of other great ones.

Honestly they're both very impressive. COD 4 Was very realistic for its time and even if released 2 or 3 years later, It'd still be up with the standards. Its graphics were ahead of its time and had a well written story. And considering the Remaster is mainly aiming to fix the graphics (kinda changed later) They did so amazingly. COD WWII looks realistic but MWR really looks like it will be overall superior because of the environments and situstions like in Shock & Awe. And Raven is by far the studio that made this game so good.

Hey I just picked up a ps3 copy for £1.50. But I have to say, having been to sunny countries, they generally don't look as murky as the PS4 version. The PS3 version is more accurate to reality except for the lower resolution and the lack of water, sun and cloud effects.

aWildHooman That's why I said it's borderline a remake. The effort that went into this is pretty astounding. Literally every asset is new, and there's a whole array of new post-processing effects. If it's not a remake, it's one hell of a remaster. This is how you remaster a 7th gen game.
