5:54 The TV station fight is not based on time, instead enemies will cease respawning once the RPG troops on the second story of the "arena" have been killed and the player has moved across to the opposite side of the room to where they enter. This is the case with most enemies in the game, where their respawns are tied to how far the player has advanced in the level. The intention, along with the grenade/rpg spam (especially in the US Marines levels) seems to be to encourage the player to be aggressive and move forwards constantly rather than methodically clearing rooms and streets. MW2 changes this by removing enemy respawns almost entirely and significantly reducing the number of enemies with explosives, which lets you methodically clear most of the game from a safe distance, which is one of the reasons why it's so much easier than MW1. 7:40 The Second Russian Civil War isn't really fleshed out that much in game, and there can be a lot of confusion because both the Loyalists and Ultranationalists wear the hammer and sickle. But the Loyalists themselves aren't Communists, the pins like on Kamarov's hat are used to this day in the Russian army out of tradition. The Ultranationalists use a red and black hammer and sickle flag which is also featured in MW2 in the Gulag mission. Even 14 years after I first played it, I still hold the opinion that MW1 is an excellent game. It certainly has flaws, and it can feel unfair at times. But it's fun, and the atmosphere and writing is a lot better than most triple AAA fpses including it's sequel (although that isn't saying much).

I played this game when I was a little kid with no english and loved it. Still, to this day I think this was the most fun I had playing a single-player shooter game. Back then I didn't understand the story other than Zakhaev=evil and middle east=war, and didn't feel the need. I felt symphaty towards the NPCs that were always around me, like Gaz, Nikolai, Griggs, Ramirez, and felt bad when they got killed in the end or captured. This game was perfect for people like myself, it makes you constantly hyped over something whether it be your teammates dying dramatically, or your ship is about to sink and you have to get out in time, or there are some nukes that you need to stop. It was a lot of brainless fun. Growing up and trying to make sense out of games made me not enjoy things I used to enjoy, and that sucks :/

In a bit of a half-hearted defense (I've never actually played the game myself), Russia's 3 biggest parties are United Russia (party of Putin, who is fairly nationalistic), the Communist Party (still gets ~20% of the vote, mostly older/rural people), and the "Liberal Democratic" Party (gets ~10%, ultraconservative nationalists). So overall it's not TOO crazy a thought. Many still contend that the Gennady Zyuganov and the Communists should have won the 1996 election against Boris Yeltsin, saying that the vote was rigged against them. I suppose that could be a point of divergence.

@@bennygerow That's actually quite common around the world. You see parties with names like United Front for Freedom and Democracy, that actually operate as authoritarian traditionalists. You know how the Democratic People's Republic of Korea isn't really any of those things except Korea. Maybe if a political group name themselves The Fascist Junta of X, then we will all know they are probably middle of the road liberals haha.

@@bennygerow yeah. It's a pretty big misnomer. Their platform consists of things like: - territorial expansion into areas formerly controlled by the USSR and Russian Empire (or the "natural borders") - Fierce opposition to the West - heavy state economic involvement (a conservative view in Russia) while maintaining a capitalist economy - Military expansion - General "Law and Order" policies - Seemingly try to resume Russification efforts (promoting Christianity and ending state recognition of languages besides Russian).

United Russia is as nationalistic as Tories are, i.e. in no way, shape or form unless for pure PR. They've been bending over backwards to appease the Chechens for the past 15 years can be seen at the sheer amount of money Moscow throws at Grozny. The Communist Party is a non-fact as it's: a) has no concrete election platform and acts as a contrarian force regardless of whether that aligns with their communist ideology or not; b) gets votes from boomers who have yet to die off. And as for LDPR, it's a one man party with no specific ideology to speak off aside from Zhirinovsky making a clown out of himself. He makes outrageous statements on any given topic and that's that. You know what the funny bit with Russian ultranationalists in CoD 4 is? They're led by a Chechen with the most stereotypical name you could think of who also looks the part. That's like if I made a CoD game about WW2 and Nazi Germany was led by Supreme Leader Schlomo Goldstein, if you catch my drift.

@Trayvon Martin Mostly because they just read the title, because that is what most people do. People generally do not have time to research everything and therefore are easily swayed by "descriptive" titles. Heck, I used to think law was heavy to read until I actually started reading into it. At least Norwegian Law is written in a very clear language that is generally difficult to misinterpret. While I am able to understand what is written in the laws, I lack the bigger picture and knowledge about the quirks of Norwegian law and therefore always value the services lawyers offer over my very limited knowledge on law. I know enough about laws surrounding IT such as the GDPR, and even then I would prefer to refer to a lawyer in legal cases.

Excelent video. This channel is criminally underrated. Though I think you were a bit too nihilistic on your approach to the game, I get (And support) why you did it. The feeling of unabriled rage this game provokes, and the sheer denial of most people who talk about this game, where they excuse the extremely stupid design choices of it because they liked it back in the day, or because it's popular is unforgivable, specially after all the damage it made to the 7th gen of consoles. Fuck the new KZbin algorythm. Content creators like you should have been recomended to my feed a year ago, and here I learned about your channel due to watching on Bitchute.
@Patrician

Damage is the right word. Infinity Ward went in with the intent of creating a "Halo killer", so it's not surprising there were lasting consequences when it exploded in popularity and studios starting copying them. As to the algorithm, I've sadly only been on an uptick lately because I started shilling my stuff more. It's especially sad when you find small channels after the creator gives up that made great content. Bitchutes recommendations seem better at recommended videos related to what you are currently watching, which is how YT used to do it and was honestly better.

A good point of comparison are the other cods Made by Treyarch, who put More focus on the story AND spectacle thus providing a bit more consistency between the overall design and the themes of the story and narrative, with the first bo being a great example.

6:00 there is - moving forward. Whilst the game - if I remember correctly that is - has no infinitely respawning waves of enemies, they do respawn quite often. It's meant to give you a "heat of the battlefield" kind of feeling (the exception are defense missions where the trigger for them to respawn or not is tied to the events - things like the Pripyat extraction, or the tank defense). They will eventually stop respawning during normal segments, though the intended way is to just push forward. This works quite well most of the time since most areas aren't *that* open and difficulties below veteran are quite forgiving.

i lost countless hours in cod4. only that was multiplayer in hardcore mode. and the main thing keeping me in was that i played on one server all the time with the same ppl day after day and this kind of connection with the community i knew and could accurately compare myslef with gave me the impression of growth and immense satisfaction when i finally started seeing my nickname atop the leaderboard. I made a lot of friends and rivals at this time and the chat allways remained active. Ppl hated on eachother and congratulated good plays alike. It felt like a virtual version of your favourite pub you go to to see the same faces talk shit and have fun playing the game. i gues you could say that about a lot of mp games but nowadays with the whole matchmaking system stuff it's rather imposible. I couldn't give a shit about the campaing and the fact that you spent almost 25 minuets talking about its single player mode feels so disconnected from the expirience most of the ppl that say this game is good had. Now you bring up valid points and i agree with all of them sp is pretty shit tbh but it felt like cutting the apple core out of an apple and then shitting on it for beeing a bad eating expierience cuz it had a stem and a bunch of seeds. Like there is all the rest of that apple left untouched wich you didn't say anything about. I get it would be hard given this is a retrospective review and if you didn't have that expirience back when it was posible you won't be able to have it now but still.

I detect a dangerously based undertone in this channel's content, so I'll be sticking around. My first modern shooter was MW2, which I liked the campaign of (not having played MW1 meant that I didn't know why things were happening and just assumed the first game makes sense) and really liked the multiplayer of, but it's surprising how nonsensical MW1 actually turns out to have been. I think I played it once, a very long time ago.

For all this game's flaws between hallways not meant for veteran difficulty in mind (the ferris wheel from One Shot One Kill) to Nikolai neglecting key information that would've saved multiple characters (the Ultranationalists' intentions with the nuke prior to Shock and Awe, the fact that Al'Asad had a safehouse, etc.) and the game's rather swift conclusion (seriously, why did Zakhaev get off from his position of safety to execute the remaining SAS team? He didn't need to and for all we know, he had no idea the man who shot off his arm was among the SAS/Marine strike team and all he really needed to do was continue slipping into hiding), I still accept this game as above-average by current standards. Its plot is otherwise simple and self contained. The difficulty - while certainly absurd in some parts - is reflective enough of actual combat to feel immersive: you'll only die in a few shots, typically you'll be hugging cover while bullets fly overhead, and the enemy is very much given the same treatment.

Now to be serious, I do agree with most of your points, the most frustrating thing in CoD and CoD clones *Cough*Medal of Honor*Cough* is instant no reaction deaths from invisible death walls, for when you inevitably break the scripting of the mission and get someplace you weren't supposed to.

"Yeah, people like this. Rather, I think people say they like this game, but they haven't played it recently enough to realize what a mess it is." This is probably spot on with me, at least. I was 10 when CoD4 came out. I have enourmous nostalgia for the game, and I realize it is very flawed, but I haven't played it in years.

This game was not intended for singleplayer at all. This game was just insane with its multiplayer at the time. So much servers and so many mods and a very very big community.

not intended for singleplayer how? the biggest push during its release was the singleplayer its a big part of the game and the idea that singleplayer not mattering is a shitty excuse making something poorly. imagine going to a burger joint and they make the burger terribly, overcooked and soggy, then some idiot says the place isn't intended for burgers but for the fries.
@Lin_Eileen

@@joedatius It was explained pretty clearly in the comment that the multiplayer was the main driving force of the hype and it's staying power. No one really ever thought this campaign was anything other than a 4-5 hour Michael Bay style romp even most 12 year olds who played at the time... i personally remember the hype for the game really went into fill swing when the beta for the MP released and people got to try out it's really unique spin on mp gameplay at the time + the original comment mentions mods and servers which was unique to the PC version of Cod 4 the PC had its own seperate dev team vs. the console ones and it made Cod 4 on PC a very different game with what it offered in it's MP compared to the standard MP you get get out of the box on consoles on PC it was really different if you ever played promod back in the day u know what's up or other fun casual mods like deathrun it was so fun. Even not talking about the PC releasse tho the consoles multiplayer c ompletely took over the industry and dominated the markets i also don't think IW made Cod 4 as a Halo killer like I saw in one comment it's an iteration on Cod 1& 2 style of gameplay into the modern warfare setting which itself is an iteration of IW's gameplay formula from MOH Allied Assault. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmbToIespc6AY7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/poi3cqZpfbWSjKs kzbin.info/www/bejne/foSzfId3ZbCErq8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6DdoZyueNFobtk this is what i think o when i think cod 4 this amazing competitive shooter on PC that in it's heyday rivaled counter-strike with it's level of competitiveness and how modular it was allowing for intense 5v5 comp matches as well as some of the most casual modded modes as well like CS' surf Cod 4 had it's jump maps due to it's advanced movement from being made on id tech 3 engine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGeamKF8ZpWMqbM

@@joedatius these games were always made with short and linear campaigns that are very cinematic it's unfair to say it's not made for single player it definitely has care put into it and is meant to be played but it is what it is ya know? the multiplayer modes are where they expect people to put most of their time who decide to stick with the games and it shows in the numbers people did stick around to play multiplayer

Insert joke about being tired with attempts at making a game with a message and failing so badly at it that the only thing that keeps your franchise alive is the fact that it does not matter how poor your game's story is the multiplayer microtransactions will always keep you afloat. Well, russain politics in the game made some sense ones you pass the code that characters speake in. Basically ultranationalist are chechen rebels who apparently tries to build a Coucasus Halifat Chamil style. That's why they fight in Azers country and not only in Russia. And maine antagonist does look like a chechen. And does have a chechen name. He also tries to sell weapons in 96 Ukraine in Ichkeria dau it is. Also, Azerbaijan looks like a estern European country couse it was a pert of Eastern European country called "USSR". So al in all Modern Warfare is about westerners figthin muslims. And you did't seems to notice that. That's pretty embaracind.
