I know fans were upset with how poorly the new MW3 handled Soap’s death, and yeah I agree, compared to Soap’s death in the original MW3, it is a bit underwhelming, but I will admit, I love the cutscene of Price, Ghost and Gaz scattering Soap’s ashes, it’s quite a touching moment of them honouring his memory.

Cause there's a different scenario when Soap died in the OG MW3 and New MW3. In the OG, Soap died in a safehouse where Price can mourn whenever whilst the New one, he died when the team had to defuse the bombs so they didn't had time to mourn, and it was supposedly to be realistic like in real life military where if a soldiers dies during a mission they wouldn't be crying cause they had to stay focus on the mission while not having their emotions get the better of them

@@kengiro0599 When Soap died immediately, the bomb was still armed while Makarov was escaping. They defused it after he escaped. In the OG, Price had allies/rebels to keep Makarov's men busy so he can have a moment to speak to Soap before he bleed to death. IRL if a soldier dies, they don't go crying cause their emotions will get them killed. They don't touch nor move their bodies until the enemies are dead or escaped cause they need to be professional and focus on the mission until its complete. If they return to base, then they'll have the time to mourn their comrades loss. Price and Soap had a better relationship in the OG than in the reboot cause Soap's been with him since COD4 while in the reboot, they met almost towards the end of the campaign in MW2 and barely knew each other, hence why Price didn't mourn cause he barely had a relationship with him while Ghost did cause the both of them were together from the beginning of MW2 to the end MW3

I agree. The way Ghost says "Johnny..." and Price needed a moment to confirm a KIA, his voice even breaking a little while saying it, was enough to move me. It doesn't hit the same as MW3, but subtlety is a powerful tool especially when these are hardened men who are used to losing people... they were just hoping it wasn't one of the best. That's a soldier; that's the curse of a soldier and the silent suffering that these men will endure because their brother died is far more powerful and real and awful than some of us will ever know

Technically Shepherd was a big villain, not as a direct threat, but by using what most military generals would in the real world ,bureaucracy and empty words, leading to the death of many people who the rest of the army can 'honor' by killing more hostile soldiers. Though I'm not defending the story writing, the way Soap went out didn't have much impact from what I've seen, just a rescue attempt and then poof, gone without any proper lead up or meaningful moments to make players like him as much as original MW3 Soap.

So those of you that hate the way things turned out. I believe they tried to switch things up and make it unpredictable, except for Soaps death. I guess they are trying to milk it for a 4th and 5th game. It’s all about making money and seeing what villains are favorites, you keep loving the villains the longer they will live for more sequels

I wonder if they're intending to bring in Roach in the next game to replace Soap. In the original MW trilogy, among Soap, Gaz, Roach, and Ghost, Soap was the last to die. Maybe this time they're flipping it around? Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that Soap's death in the new game was so plain and disappointing.

In a way it seems like they treated soap like they treated ghost and roach back in the day and maybe with the next iteration since the ghost from the reboot seemed like he felt the most pain off his death I wonder if they treat gaz and ghosts death harder since they worked with together the most in this rebooted part of MW

Fr. I'm tired of these idiots complaining "Soap's death wasn't emotional. Nobody reacted." mf there's a bomb ticking down still. And like you infer, in OG mw2, Soap and Price don't mourn or focus on Ghost and Roach dying. They immediately worry about getting out of the boneyard and hunting Shepard afterwards, no emotions towards fallen comrades. That's how soldiers work lol keep it inside til you get back home or at the base.
