Here is a video displaying some common Russian call-outs of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. I had a Russian speaker translate files I extracted from the game. I DO NOT own the sound files, they are the property of Infinity Ward and Activision.

As you can tell, I made this video many years ago and now I'm surprised how many views it has received. I would love to continue at some point and do game translations for a variety of games (complete with IPA transcriptions as well) but I'm not sure of the legality of it. Additionally, you never know how youtube will treat your content these days. The grey areas are just as black as night in youtube's eyes.

Blue hat Turtle I would love to but I haven't bought a COD since Black Ops. Currently I'm teaching abroad so it would be months before I could have the time + resources to tackle it.

The translation is good, but as a Russian speaker I can say that in COD, Russian is spoken with a strong accent (I guess English accent). On the other hand, in all the Battlefields I have played, Russian soldiers would speak so clearly and properly that it makes me envy. ))) So go listen to some BF recordings if you want to hear how it would really sound. ^^

Really? My friends (Moscow region) says the Russian in BF4 and BF3 is spoken with a pretty heavy accent as well. At least two or three voice actors. EDIT: I mean two or three voice actors in BF3/4, not that my friends are voice actors. Just to clarify ;)

Dunno about Battlefield, but talking about MW and MW2, there are like two kinds of russian there: one with heavy accent and bad pronunciation, and the other one is perfect, literally perfect, like voiced by the native russian speaker. The best example is the scene in the CoD 4 (MW1), level "Hunted", where Ultranationalist was interrogating local farmer. Terrorist was speaking with terrible russian (understandable, but clearly not even passable) while farmer had excellent speech. Hilarious, isn't it? Especially considering that Ultranationalists should probably be native russians, huh. And the most funny thing is, these "good" and "bad" russian languages coexist in different cutscenes, and you hear both terrible and terrific callouts in combat. Unique experience for a russian player, such as myself, lol.

Word "Vspishka!" ("Flash!") is actually used to point the direction of enemy fire in case of ambush. For example "Vspishka sprava" ("Flash on the right!") means enemy fire squad set somewhere on the right from current position and everybody better to take cover and retreat from enemy line of sight. But i guess in MW2 this word just refers to flashbang, since he does not mention any direction.

Actually, "brosay granatu" does mean "use your grenade," or more so, "throw a grenade." "brosay" is an "imperative-verb" meaning that it is a command. It should not be confused with "brosayu granatu" which more accurately mean, "throwing a grenade."

0:30 - 1) "Throwing grenade!" / "Tossing grenade!" / "Throwing frag!" / "Tossing frag!" 0:36 - 2) "Planting C-Four!" / "Deploying C-four!" / "Setting C-Four!" 0:50 - 4) "Enemy down!" 1:04 - 6) "I'm hurt!" 1:24 - 8) "Concussion out!" You can compare it to other COD games where russians use almost the same phrases. The only thing, soviet soldiers in Black Ops use russian words combined with english. Note that we, russians, used to say "Svetovaya!" instead of "Vspyshka!" and "Glyshilka!" ("Brosaiyu glyshilku!") instead of "Brosaiyu stun granatu!" or other one - "Shumovaya!" (same as stungrenade). Also, you can replace collocation "Zaryazhayu C4!" with other one, like "Stavlyu vzryvchatku!" or "Stavlyu zaryad!" ("Zaryad ustanovlen!") Apparently, these collocations should be in original game, but, unfortunately, you can hear them only in russian version of this game. Though, the original spetsnaz voice is awesome. Even better than revoiced.

Want to know a cool stuff? The same phrases can be listened today in Ukraine, at this exact moment, even the sounds from grenade. It's so immersive.

Is it weird that I knew what the sentences meant, without even understanding Russian? The only Russian words I knew, were "Da"(yes)", "Njet(no)" and "Borshch(which is an Ukrainian/Russian soup, made of beets.)" Then again, given each situation, each sentence made sense pretty easily.
