It’s called an IR laser or infrared laser. You actually can’t see it without night vision on. In some cases you can see it with heat vision on, you can see where the laser meets it’s target but not the line of the laser

The laser with the NVDs are a real thing Mr Fruit! When running night vision goggles you cant aim down your normal sights or optics because the goggles stick out too far from your face, so we use a laser to still have a way to aim when using them :D

An explanation for the IR laser is: there’s a button attached to it that turns it on and off. As long as you zero your laser to the rifle you won’t need to ADS And when you have on NVG’s it’s difficult to ADS IRL.

Hi Mr. Fruit! Watching your MW series… again… I swear I don’t have a problem. BUT you asked if the laser thing with night vision was real… YES. But it only works if you zero in the laser to the barrel of the weapon. “Borsighting”. You put a rod in the tube and turn on its laser, and then turn the laser on of the external device and zero them in on each other. So where ever the laser points is where the bullet will hit

If it had no night vision and instead there’s just flash lights in the guns I think it would be a lot more cooler. You could just turn the flashlight off and go absolute stealth mode or you can keep it on and be a beacon and run and gun. That would be so much better. Also maybe make it to where expensives can be used to like flash a area so that you can see it for a second.

As someone who has to shoot with NVGs annually, yes, you can see the lasers from any weapon, yes NVGs give you a massive headache after a while, no NVGs do not give you that great a field of vision. You want more immersion? Figure a way to straight up delete your depth perception while wearing NVGs, at least the older models. The newer ones my unit uses aren't as bad but the field of view is still pretty garbage.

Fruit, this is actually representative of real night vision mechanics. What you know as thermal vision is PASSIVE infrared vision, where it just detects (sees) objects emitting infrared radiation (heat). Night vision goggles are ACTIVE infrared vision. The goggles actually has an infrared flashlight(s) that illuminates an area in infrared light (like a normal flashlight does with visible light) while the googles detect the infrared light that is reflected. NVGs are just thermal scopes and infrared lights combined into a single device. If you look at the eyes of enemy players you'll see that they are bright green because those are the infrared flashlights on the goggles. Also, if you look closely when you have your night vision on you see concentric rings produced by the lights of your goggles just like those produced like flashlights. The laser is visible because its the same as your normal laser sight but it emits infrared light rather than red light.
