I hate how cod and battlefield were always compared back in the day. They are so different. Cods identity was to be a fun fast paced arcade shooter while battlefield has always been a more realistic large scale shooter with tons of vehicles and destructible environments. They are nothing alike. Now they both feel like they have no identity at all.

Sure they fell but I’m not too sure about revival, they are all at an all time low right now. Battlefield is pushing horrible games out and call of duty is more of an online store than a video game. Halo is just there…. Hopefully one day we’ll see them come back in full form.

@@Edmundostudios Although it's been a long time there has been only two back to back subpar experiences from Battlefield, compared to COD which has not made a truly remarkable release since MW2019, which although its been less time since then compared to the last remarkable Battlefield in 2016, there has also been 4 new games since, all subpar or awfull. With all that said, my expectations for both the next Battlefield and Call of Duty are the lowest they ever been given the state of the industry, their identity crisis and statements from the devs and publishers of both games. They will probably both be Fortinite wanna bes cash grabs. Thankfully Arma Reforger and it's modding community exist to fill the void left from Battlefield and Call of Duty at least for me, because it will be a long the time until the multiplayer genre as a whole can recover from the damage BR games caused.

Even Vanguard has a bad campaign and 3rd mode, but the MP was better maps and normal ttk and even had more collaborations. Sure, it may not be in the ww2 setting, but it was fun tbh

You know a video is truly nostalgic and well thought out/put together when you're watching a 32 minute master piece but feels like you want it to go on for double that. I find myself talking to myself about the games on display in the videos taking me back to my early ps2 days when I was 4-6 years of age then getting my first xbox 360 at 6-7 getting to experience all these great games (and some massive flops😂) now continuing gaming but on PC. Make Halo with fresh maps, updated weapons, killstreaks, perks and keep it Halo-esq. Halo’s “Zombies” mode would be “The Flood” and Warzone could be “Coventry” or “Invasion.” Just a thought! 💭

Firestorm released in March 2019, months after BFV released. Blackout shipped with Bo4. Firestorm mainly failed due to lack of support, some bugs here and there and a lackluster player count, still having 64 players on such a large map that could easily have had 100 like every other BR at the time. Also Firestorm being locked behind the price tag of BFV knowing that games mixed reception turned a lot of people away. Blackout was also locked behind the price tag of Bo4 but Bo4 was the better recieved game of the 2, plus Blackout was actually fun and Treyarch kept up with supporting it unlike DICE with Firestorm.

Battlefield has a better variety when it comes to eras of war. COD has only covered WW2, the Cold War, modern-day war and the future, whereas Battlefield has done all that plus WW1, Vietnam and the near future

I grew up with Call of duty and been a fan ever since Big red one and Finest hour on the Gamecube and have been a fan of Call of duty since and I still am. Battlefield 3 was really the only battlefield I liked while basically every Call of duty other than a few games I don't like. I don't like where the franchise is but I still absolutely love Call of duty

I have always been a fan of both franchises, but Battlefield has always been my favorite. That said, it is incredibly sad to see how far both franchises have fallen from their peaks. COD is no longer the fun arcade shooter you play with the boys--it's an "engagement" simulator that uses predatory EOMM and FOMO to get you coming back over and over (I stopped playing COD at the end of MWII's lifecycle, and I barely played MWII). 2042 is still a barebones shell of a BF game almost 2.5 years after launch, and there is no new content for people who have played since the early days of the game. These games could easily coexist as they aren't really direct competitors (arcadey close quarters shooter vs. large scale sandbox warfare shooter), but EA and Activision have pushed the devs towards making COD more like BF and BF more like COD to the point where the franchises really have no identity anymore.

Ahh yes the greatest video game rivalry of all time. No other FPS game could compete with these 2. I remember having so much fun with battlefields bad company 2, battlefield 3 and so on. I also had so much fun with cods mw2, mw3, bo2, and so on. And yrs later we move on to now. If we’re being honest call of duty never rlly lost its “fun” it rlly just fell off when sbmm and bright ass skins got into the game. With battlefield it’s legit the same thing with all their titles. They have great trailers and at launch the games comes out broken. It’s started since battlefield 4 but ppl came back to it and now it’s one of the best FPS games of all time. I’m willing to bet when this new battlefield releases next yr everybody is going to go back to 2042 bcuz the new game is gonna launch completely broken. Both r rlly njoyable depending on who u r. For me personally I’m playing both but I find myself more on 2042 than MWIII. I’ll only play MWIII for the battle pass and leveling up guns. For 2042 I don’t just play for the battle pass but rlly for the immersion. They aren’t the same game by a long shot but they both have great potential and that’s wat throws me off when they release broken games and add sbmm and bright ass skins to the game
