God this game was dark and honestly the best C.O.D to date. It showed that war isn't just this fickle thing, that its dark, brutal and no side was truly good or evil and that there are no heroes who can just take on the world alone like in later C.O.D's which are all Michael Bay fuck fests.

The atmosphere was incredible. You could feel the fear of the German solders being forced deeper into the city. Completely surrounded and suffering a relentless assault from the ground and air. Nonac Rize I'm not too sure about that. My dad knows a guy who's dad was Hitler Youth in the defense of Berlin. The only war story I know from him is that as soon as him and his best friend got to where the fighting was, his best friend was shot in the head and died instantly. Which is a lot less badass than the rock music here suggests, and is really just a sad story. Other than that he didn't say much about the war. I have a Hitler youth helmet actually, from a flak gunner, and on the inside the kid wrote a name, I assume his own name. It's all a little too real for me after holding that in my hands. A lot of them were Hitler Youth or old men dragged into the Volkstruppen, and a couple fanatics that would fight to the death I'm sure. But Hitler's war machine had long since collapsed by this point. So I'm not sure the battle of Berlin was about super fearless epic "rage" filled badasses.
@datboi96486 жыл бұрын
Horatio Nelson That’s a cool story, I have tremendous respect for all who serve. (With a few exceptions) That helmet is very cool, I always wanted my own. I always love listening to vets, and sitting with them and learn about what they see. I do agree with you that a lot of Germany’s defenders were children and old men. Also like I stated before that all side felt fear. However many of the pockets of resistance contained Wehrmacht and SS forces mixed in. In conditions where Wehrmacht surrender the SS kept fighting. It was strictly forbidden for the SS to outlive Hitler. Not only on that note but many of the kids fighting were also radicalized by Hitler Youth, and those who weren’t still hated and feared the Slavic forces. Rape and pillage was not uncommon. I think we can all agree that Russia was looking for more than an end to the war. Russia was looking for revenge. (Which in times as dark as these, what soldier wouldn’t) This does lead to brutal treatment, and that leads to fear. I think me and you agree, it was terrifying for the Germans, they knew what would happen to them and their families if the Russians won. However in the German’s eyes (many of them at least) the war against Russia was a Holy War. They believed the biggest threat to Europe was the Eastern power of Communist Russia (Slavs) So to conclude, we agree that this song catches the fear of Reich breathing it’s last breathe. But as for the soldiers, the metal and shriek of the dark tone music catches the anger and rage of both the Russian and German soldiers. Hundreds of years of hate, massive bloodshed on each side. It catches the rage of the Red Army as they burn Berlin, and the determination of the Germans has they work to take as many Russians with them. Because I think we can all agree Germany knew it was over. Either way, I think we both agree it catches fear, I just feel that from my researches on Nazi Germany, especially during her final days, and with the vets I’ve listened to, I have come to a conclusion, that among the fear, you also see a lot of hate, rage, desperately, and yes bravery on each side. I’m not trying to argue either, I enjoy talking about this subject. I thank you for sharing your facts and information with me.

@@devinpetersen2387 Also those defending Berlin were under the assumption that they'd be summarily executed if taken alive. ***** actually Wehrmacht were not at all nazis (although maybe some were). The Waffen SS wasnt made up of hitlers body guards as well as most Waffen SS not being nazis, it was more of the officers of the waffen SS that were nazis. The Waffen SS is pretty similar to Wehrmacht but has different ideology and the Waffens SS tend to be more the zealous elite.
@battleax8610 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Jenkins The Waffen SS was an all-volunteer organization and served specifically as the armed forces of the Nazi Party (as opposed to the Wehrmacht being the armed forces of Germany), so I think it's pretty safe all members of the Waffen SS were Nazis.

***** Barely any Wehrmacht soldiers were Nazis. The vast majority of Wehrmacht soldiers were conscripts who didn't share the Nazi idealogy. The Waffen-SS was comprised of highly trained and indoctrinated soldiers who followed the Nazi ideology. Be that as it may be, however, it doesn't erase the fact that the Wehrmacht did commit a large amount of war crimes.

I think they realize. It's just that one cannot make another WWII game so easily now that there are literally tons of them. The thing with modern weapons is, balance is supposed to be difficult because with years' worth of development, some guns really stand out as poor, and others stand out as overpowered. I must disagree that BO2 was not good, though, because that game had fair balance (plus, snipers in CoD were never meant to be very strong). MW3 and MW2, though, had poor multiplayer balance.

LMGs and fast firing sub machine guns are my favorite, because the enemies are much afraid of them than rifles or other weapons and because they cause more dmg and you dont have to reload them after every kill.

I've always wondered what it'd be like if Treyarch made another ww2 game, but from the perspective of a German soldier. I think that'd be really cool. We're so used to being the victorious faction at the end of the game, it'd be interesting to flip the script and see what they could come up with.
