I’d like to know if the sound is as good outside. Watched Dan’s video today. Sorry to hear you won’t be working with him much going forward, but we could see this coming. Now I have more quality golf videos to watch, which is only a good thing! Cheers boys!

I just got my new Mavrik driver standard. I’m not a fan of tweeking weights and faces not because of the technology but any deviation on my accuracy is always a result of a miss, or poor swing. I’ve always used that as a indicator of any fault on my swing mechanics. Now using the Mavrik I can say is incredible even with miss hits. I have my settings at neutral-neutral and during my practice my dispersions on miss hits have shrank by more than half. My natural ball flight has always been a draw and when I miss right, it does not deviate to far from center. The review on the club is very forgiving and its true. The technology may cause the ball to have a lesser sidespin which explains why right misses are not bad at all and easily still playable. If you are in the market for a driver, I recommend this product.

Great video as always. Last Saturday our club had Callaway out to do Mavrik fittings. 15 people were fitted by 2 Callaway reps. Of the 15, 13 ordered a Mavrik drivers. I was one of them and my Mavrik was ordered on the spot after the fitting. I’m currently gaming the Epic Flash Sub Zero. I tried all three Mavrik’s. The Mavrik Sub Xero spin was too low. The best for me was the Max, great sound, feel and forgiveness. I saw an average increase of 10 mph in ball speed. Can you say forgiveness! I’ll be using the same shaft that’s in my Flash Sub Zero - the Fujikura Atmos Blue Tour Spec. It gave me the best numbers. Fittings were all done outdoors using Trackman.

Great video showing how common misconception makes most golfers not try the beginner friendly versions while chasing low spin numbers.

In the last several years I have purchased two used LOW spin drivers and both convinced me to STOP buying low spin drivers. They start out fine then drop out of the air and start killing worms about 150 yards out until they stop rolling and killing worms. So any thing Sub Zero is out, and to be honest anything named Mavrik is also out, I like the color but the name is lame. Good video guys, keep it up.

All three faces are different. It's not just for the sake of making 3 heads, each face has different thickness in strategic areas ie. the Max has slightly thicker face towards the heel and the outer areas whereas the standard is more evenly distributed, etc.

Interesting to see that the skirt is making a comeback on drivers..... head shape resembling drivers from a bygone era..... and moving away from the extreme weight down and back sloping crowns. Can you test it against an old Callaway C4 or a ping G2?!!

Loving the data gents! Reminds me of the video you did on testing driver models from past 10+ years ... yardage remains more or less the same. I get some low spinners on my g400 lst that weren't an issue before. I haven't decided if I want to fork out some cash for a new driver this year
@chriskhoo74084 жыл бұрын
True what Adam @ MGS said, technology is starting to saturate. The beauty with three heads I feel is the look; Covers the consumer that wants a small tight head (Sub), wide head (Max) or deep head (Mav) for confidence while allowing them to blend and achieve the same result. ie. the strike is up to the consumer & fit, not the technology anymore.

I went in and got fit for the SIM, the SZ and the two Mavirk and SubZero Mavrik (I hook the ball to a draw version doesn't appeal to me at all). Walked out of the shop with a SubZero and a smile. The distance (+5 yards), sound and most importantly the dispersion were consistently better than the other drivers (and my Rogue Subzero). It was interesting how much difference there really is in the 2020 drivers. Note: I would have hit the ST200 if they had it in the shop but they said it was at least a month away so that was a disappointment.

So the draw driver didn't look to have to much draw effect. Stop overriding the settings!! The question with draw setting drivers is will it help players who tend to leave the face slightly open. Waiting on more tests

You say the low spin is 'romantic but scares you' but difference longest to shortest is 16 yards with sub zero... and 14 or 12 yards with the other two. Thats only dropping off 2 or 4 yards more on this data set. Like you always say.. 2 to 4 yards is a bounce on the course. Is it actually making any difference?

Before KZbin and people like yourself, golf companies would market their products by paying golf magazines to write features on their products in return for a favourable review which meant the consumer was effectively being sold dud information because the review was always going to be biased, if the magazines didn’t give good reviews then the companies would stop paying them. This changed with the dawn of the independent reviewers on KZbin which you were one of the pioneers of. With KZbin and independent reviewers there was no monetary incentive coming from the manufacturers other than the cost of providing the free drivers to the testers but this could be easily offset by the free exposure. Unfortunately because of the way KZbin works, the reviewers (this is firmly aimed at Rick Shiels) are incentivised to get as many views as possible to earn the greatest possible amount of advertising revenue and the focus has switched from providing sound buying advice to “giving the people what they want to hear” which now seems to be “don’t buy the new model because it doesn’t go any further than the last model”. This is problematic for the manufacturers and you could argue the consumers too because often the data used to make that assertion is often severely lacking in quantity and quality. The manufacturers are in a tough place because if they stop giving Rick their equipment then the general public will think they are scared of his “honesty”. The reality is his reviews are often biased towards tryIng to prove the manufacturers claims wrong for the benefit of people who more than likely wouldn’t have bought the product anyway rather than providing worthwhile advice about the product to people who might. Basically Rick Shiels is ruining golf product reviews on KZbin whilst at the same time making a lot of money for himself and it’s a little bit annoying. Not sure why I wrote all of that out but I did. Good review Mark and Coach
