I’ve had this driver for about a year and a half, and it’s still in my bag! The courses I play down here in Florida are so long with narrow fairways or dog legged left or right. I play these courses to get better, and this driver did give me more confidence, although I’m not hitting every fairway with it. When I do miss, I usually miss in a good place.

Went to get fitted today for a new driver to potentially replace my 2 year old rogue sub zero. The mavrik sub zero won the day. Constantly 5-15yards longer and more importantly, much tighter dispersion. RE your on course results, you are experiencing exactly what the strokes gained math would predict, the longer you hit it, the lower you will score. Great video.

I'm a 6 handicap. Age has taken its toll on my distance, particularly the last 5 years. I've lost nearly 25 yards on my drives, even though I'm 17lbs lighter than I was 5 years ago. Father Time is undefeated! That said, I got my Mavrik stiff-shaft 10 degree driver TODAY. Haven't swung it even once, but can't wait to find out whether this is an ACTUAL forgiveness club, or just the latest marketing scheme. For the record, the EPIC driver was PURELY a marketing scheme! I've hit the EPIC anywhere from 330 yards down to 210 yards, with what felt like the same swing. For the record, even at my age, I can hit a 6 Iron 210 yards. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who are prepared to defend the EPIC driver, but - after playing golf for 40+ years - for me, it's the most UNFORGIVING driver I've ever had in my bag. And I started playing when woods were made of WOOD! When the first Big Bertha came out, I could hit the same shot within 10 yards, 50 swings in a row. It was the first "modern" driver I purchased. With the EPIC, it feels like I'm missing some video-game green-light signal to swing. I'll hit it on one hole, and be completely satisfied, then hit it on the next hole - same address, and approach - and "no fucking idea what just happened". For me, the EPIC was an EPIC FAIL! I would literally hand it to some kid in the parking lot and say "here you go - good luck with that." Anyway, can't wait to hit the MAVRIK in a couple days. By the way, the best golfer I've ever played with - Lee - who passed away 12 years ago - played with all wooden clubs 1-5, and hit the best shot I've ever seen in my life - TV or live. He took his shoes and socks off to hit a ball, half covered by water, and hit a 2 Iron (yup - TWO IRON) out of the water, and over a pond to 3 feet from the cup, 190 yard shot. Out of the water, no shoes or socks on, and clubs that probably got sold for $5 at a rummage sale after he died. He was 67 years old when he hit that shot, and I'll take that memory to my grave.

Just bought a new Maverick...haven’t hit it yet...because of the lock down in our state...(Hawaii)...your swing speed and your tempo is normal...but your distance is amazing.... great round...thanks.

I picked up a Mavrik Sub Zero driver a couple of months ago, and have loved most of my shots with it on the range, and got the 3 wood to go with it (both used). I've been playing a par 3 with the longest hole at 202 yards, so I haven't gotten to use them in "real life," yet, but can't wait to move onto a longer course. I think you gave a good demo of what can be done with one, for the good shots that they provide. I hit out on the toe a bit and slice mine, but the good drives... they're super sweet!

Thanks you Matt for an honest review on Callaway Maverick Driver. Lovely swing you have rhythm and tempo excellent. Currently playing Mizuno ST 200 9.5 degree driver but I've Callaway Maverick 3&5 Fairway woods which are incredible to hit long off the tee/fairway carry soft landing on the greens. This could be one if the best reviews and tests if a driver that I have seen. Real on course content and the course being so narrow give you a lot of factors to take in to account. Accuracy Distance and Forgiveness

You can actually hear the difference in sound when you toe the shot vs. hitting dead center. I bought the Maverik recently from Golfbidder UK and I wasn't accustomed to the sound of the Driver compared to my previous one. So I was really interested to hear the sound here on this test. Mine sounds exactly (beautifully) when hit dead center; it's this broad deep bash vs. the known ping sound you get when you toe it. So, many thanks for this review, which makes me happy to have bought it.

Just got mine. Mavrik Max. It’s a keeper for sure. It flys off the face - it’s an unbelievable difference compared to technology 5-10 years old. Miss hits are much more forgiving too. Small sample size, but so far so good.

Great review and great round. The thing I took out of this is that strokes gained tells us we should hit driver as much as possible, so possibly previously you weren't hitting enough drivers on that course.

Nothing focuses the mind like playing a course where you should never hit driver and then forcing oneself to hit driver on every hole. The mind is very powerful - forcing ourselves to narrow in on the tiniest of targets, on all of our shots, especially driving and chipping, is something that would help every golfer improve their game. My own personal experience is that this concept was singularly responsible for me moving from shooting low 80s to low 70s over the last two years. The Mavrik definitely wins the best sounding driver award.

I just bought this driver and only used it once on an indoor simulator, which was my first time song so. I played Pebble Beach and shot an 85, I can't wait to see how it performs on an actual, live course.

Ahh..to be 30 years younger...and 3 less knee operations!! I would have loved to see how far I could have hit it! My original Callaway Big Bertha driver was amazing at the time...I drove 3 short...350-370 yards long...Par 4's more than once...or was very close to the front edge of the green. Great video...the driver seems to perform very well...even on miss hits.

Great putting, Mr Short Game indeed. When you state that you are comparing the drives to your normal drives, are you also comparing them to the same time/weather conditions? Today was no roll so are you comparing your other drives with no roll or summer conditions? Is that the standard Mavrik driver or Sub Zero version? Hate the orange color was gonna go customs but it was $640 I have the flash sub zero brand new but it's not for me I sold it this weekend , bought a brand new customs shop gbb epic with my specs, color, shaft, everything i wanted for $265 brand new plastic on the head comes in tomorrow, looks better than the Mavrik to be honest with you. The Maverick Driver leaves me wanting to go to NY Golf Center at W35 behind Macy’s and give it a demo try. I like my demo TaylorMade M1 with two adjustable weights on the bottom that look like a T . The top of the T is the draw and fade weight and the other adjustable weight is for low and high shots. My shaft is FUJIKURF pro60 flex-5. Don’t ask me what it means but I had many good shots with it at Dyker Beach GC Brooklyn NYC by the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge. Verrazzano has actually two z’s in it. Though the signs show only one Z. Maybe a huge waste of money to correct the signs. James Braddock the Cinderella Man that Russell Crowe portrayed used his construction equipment to help build the Verrazzano Bridge.

So now that you have had the driver in the bag for a month and the honeymoon phase is over. How does it compare to your TS3 in distance and dispersion? Also is it more/less/same for forgiveness on off center hits compared to your TS3? Was wondering if you tested any other drivers before deciding to put the Mavrik in the bag? SIM or Cobra? Not sure I understand the fascination with drivers. I read recently that virtually all drivers are rated to the max of 86mph off the center when shot at 100mph, which is maximum allowed to be legal. That's been the case for years. In my humble opinion, Driver is personal more than any club. You know within a couple of tee shots if it suits you.
