Half of the NBA community only cares about players that struggle until they actually go all the way. It happened with Giannis, ppl loved his underdog story but now that he's won it all, they don't pay him any attention anymore. Jokic is the same, he won the championship last year and now folks seem to care less about him as opposed to Luka, aka the new superstar that has not won a MVP or championship. The people who criticize him often have zero knowledge of the X's and O's about basketball. He actually coached fairly well in this years playoffs with well executed gameplan and adjustments throughout the series. The only problem was the injuries to the stars. What’s crazy to me is that Giannis wasn’t in MVP conversations despite the 30 ppg on 60% shooting. To me I think the media just matters a lot, and Giannis isn’t getting the media attention he deserves. Milwaukee is a smaller market with a smaller fanbase, so for Giannis to regain that title of best player in the world he would have to do something to really shock everyone that’s completely new, I just don’t see it happening unfortunately.
@rob.parsnips6 ай бұрын
Ehhh, Denver’s not a huge market either, plus Giannis is one of the beloved stars in the NBA. There’s a movie about him and his family on Disney+. If there’s a media bias, I don’t see it. But I could be wrong. He’s got two MVPs already, and Shai and Luka have zero. People want to give them their flowers. And Jokic is just undeniably the best if you care at all about stats, it would be crazy to give MVP to anyone else (except Embiid if he didn’t get hurt, a full season at that level would demand an MVP).

@kaidouvalorant98276 ай бұрын
@@rob.parsnips Right, Denver isn’t a big market but still Joker is getting that kind of respect because the media is paying attention to him. Giannis is only not the best player in the league because no one on TV is talking about it because they’re all used to it now. I think we’re on the same page, just at different times, I don’t think Giannis deserved the MVP last season (I was rooting for Luka) but I certainly think he deserved to be brought up in those conversations more than he was. It’s just unfortunate to watch 82 games of your favorite player dominating and some people got Jalen Brunson over him, no disrespect to Brunson of course. I just think it’s unfortunate that people can maintain greatness and not get any appreciation for it. The market has nothing to do with getting popular, but does with maintaining it. @broizon2056 ай бұрын
Bucks should be able to easily bounce back for who they got on the team, but don’t forget that Doc is still in power. As long as he is in power, Bucks will most likely always be held back from getting another ring or multiple rings, as we have seen from past teams under Doc (such as the Sixers and Clippers).
@Asaenz24686 ай бұрын
The thing about Giannis is he gives his 100% every damn game. ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FLOOR. The consensus three best players in the league have been Jokic, Luka, and Embiid. As great as Luka is, his defense is just atrocious, Jokic is a good defender at best, Embiid is the only guy out of these three that is elite on the defensive side, however he has his post season slip ups. But here’s Giannis, a guy who is ELITE on BOTH SIDES PLUS he has proven he is a playoff riser. I don’t get why people don’t see Giannis in that that best player in the world category. It honestly baffles me.

Dudes a walking double double and probably the 3rd best scorer in the league (behind Luka and Embiid you could argue maybe SGA but I don’t think he is that level yet). You can make a really good argument for Giannis being the best player in the league. (I personally have Luka at 1 and Jokic and Giannis as an interchangeable 2). Extra note: I’m not a bucks fan so I don’t want anyone to think I’m biased towards Giannis, I just think he ignored by the media.
@Sam_Berghammer6 ай бұрын
People that call Giannis solely "run and dunk" are the most dismissive basketball fans out there. His offensive game is so much more than that. The amount of euros, spin and swim moves he uses to get to the basket is crazy. He moves so fast for his size he is practically impossible to defend unless you throw multiple bodies at him, but obviously his playstyle wears him down due to how much he gets fouled on what could be argued as every play. Not to mention, Giannis's passing might genuinely be the single most underrated skill a player has in the league, he makes so many ridiculous finds and throws to shooters and cutters. He is insanely good as both a P+R ballhandler and roller, they did that stuff a bunch with him and Khris as well as Brook. The Bucks coaching the past few years just did not utilize him off-ball enough with his movement, it's something I want them to take more advantage of. Lastly, his defense isn't even a question for how much better he is than Jokic/Luka on that front. I do think we will see him be more on-ball this season so that will be fun. It's a clear 1A and B between Jokic and him for me.

Bucks are, in my full honest opinion, in one of the weirdest situations in the league. Bad things keep happening to them, they keep choking and they're not really getting younger or developing young players. They're just so old... Lose Brogdon, lose Jrue, miss out on Bogdan Bogdanovic, KMid getting injured, Giannis getting injured, weak bench, fire your COTY, sign an unheard of Coach, fire him halfway through the season just to sign Doc....
@broizon2056 ай бұрын
Right now, as long as Doc is in power, Bucks are most likely screwed when they need to win the games that actually matter, similar to what teams like the Sixers and Clippers went through under Doc, but potentially worse.

Not sure if choking is the right term if Giannis wasn’t playing. Last two series he was healthy they won it all, and then took Boston to 7 games. Gets hurt 1st quarter of the playoffs next year, and misses the entire playoffs last year.

@noahmedrano2226 ай бұрын
I mean how many injuries can you say is the players fault? Nobody injures themselves on purpose. Now the 2023 injury was retarded on part of Kevin Love undercutting him, but this past year his calf was sore for a while and kept pushing himself. And no coincidence that it stopped him on the Celtics game, perhaps his rival team. Both in East MKE eliminated BOS in 2019, BOS eliminates MKE 2022. Khris Middleton is historically a Celtic killer.
@rabeechowdhury6 ай бұрын
@@noahmedrano222 if he isn't taking care of his body seriously, of course he is going to get injured. That 2023 post season was arguably the best chance Giannis had at a second ring. Homecourt against the celtics for the first time in a 7 game series. Poor paint defense nuggets teams, chemistry-less knicks team, etc, etc. That team would defeat the 2021 bucks in 6 if healthy.

I dont think Jokic and Luka are cones simply because they are smart and got size but they for sure arent putting in effort he does.2 way stars in general are underrated in that sense except for Trey for some reason, he is the only guy with offensive powers in the 1 percentile that gets shit on for being a turd on defense for some reason.

If Giannis has another season where he isn't healthy for the playoff, he is gonna start seeming much closer to Embiid than people think. There was always a real concern that Giannis won't be as great as his body ages. He just spent two offseasons hurt and his team was eliminated in the first round. If it becomes three in a row people will start doubting why we should care about him, same as they do with Embiid

He’s the best player in the league. The fact that people will argue about who is better OFFENSIVELY between Jokic and Giannis should tell you all you need to know, as Giannis is twice the player Jokic is on defense. Even if Jokic is 10% better on offense, Giannis is 200% better on defense.
@theonewhogotaway63846 ай бұрын
Obviously joking is better offensively, bro. Gianni is great, but joking us just way more versatile
@AnTana-zt9ln6 ай бұрын
Giannis is for sure a better 2 way player, however you're really underestimating that you can always go to your go to guy on offense, and you can bypass the best opposing defender. Not to mention that Jokic is a considerably better playmaker, and 5 more assists per game means 10/15 points more every game. Not to mention that you also have to take into account efficiency and A:TO ratio, and Jokic has the edge in both.
@49zeph6 ай бұрын
Saying that it’s an argument between jokic and giannis offensively is ridiculous. Giannis is great offensively, of course, averaging 30+ efficiently and being a solid playmaker, but jokic is another level. The conversation about 2 way play versus offensive juggernaut is a valid one, but there’s levels to jokic’s offense that no other player in the league can reach, and it’s an offense driven league like it or not
@slightexag6 ай бұрын
I'd say Giannis is 2. Jokic is way more than 10% better than him on offense, especially considering every single guy who plays with him is 150% better+ because of his passing. He would make any team way better, whereas Giannis' skills would fail to elevate the guys around him to the same degree on a team without another primary scorer (like Middleton). Jokic is easily the best player in the league, while Giannis is the second best, and best two-way guy.

Khris MIddleton is back healthy and is once again a BEAST! In playoffs this year Khris averaged 25/9/5 on 49/38/83 shooting splits. Gary Trent Jr. is a legit starting SG huge upgrade over Beasley who can't play defense and Beas also can't hit 3's in the playoffs.

I mean yeah you miss two postseasons in a row people are going to forget about you. He’s still absolutely top 10 in the league, almost inarguably top 5, but the playoffs are where you make your impact. What I think is hurting giannis is that somehow he is more focussed on offensive production than defensive right now. When he was regarded the best player in the world, he was also maybe the best defender in the league. Atleast one of the guys. This made it really easy accept some of his shortcomings. But yeah, I genuinely believed he should have won the 2023 MVP award. His was the number 1 seed and he played out of his mind.
