ray allen never been on any of these guys level. Lebron at 35 was easy first option on a contender. At 40 not so much. Suns have a beal problem, but that was obvious before they got him so its kinda on front office.

At least not entirely from my understanding He was the main contributor in Brooklyn as to how they went so far in the playoffs in 21, playing really well, but insert infamous foot on the line joke here. And the the Devin booker - KD duo could’ve be nice, but they gave Beal a horrible deal, the Suns now have no picks which = no future; The Suns looked good when he was healthy, but without Durant they looked completely hopeless. Now the Sun’s pretty much have to let him go despite him still playing fine because they made some really bad decisions with the roster construction. Please correct me if im wrong, I haven’t been super up-to-date on the NBA past 2 seasons, but from what i saw; Durant on the Suns has failed mostly because of bad front office decisions and not him just playing horrible

I’ve been saying it since they got together. Big threes don’t work anymore. Especially now because of the aprons. You’re better off with two stars and good role players that fit next to the stars. Teams that continue to swing for that third star continue to crash, burn and come up short

Durant simply doesn’t play a style that can carry the full load of a poor roster. Jokic and LeBron are both ELITE ball distributors and playmakers. They have an internal feel for how to get good shots for mediocre players. Durant is a very good passer for 7’ and has outstanding gravity, but he doesn’t create offense for others when it isn’t there. They NEED a true PG. Booker plays the position but he’s a SG deep down.

Personally i think it has more to do with the collapse of defense in the nba and the over-reliance on 3s. Big 3s dont really work anymore, but a few teams rely on big 3s and big 2s to make it to the top, but that formula is dying. JT and JB on the Celtics are great players, but they're not top 3 in the NBA each. However, they have a huge supporting cast and that cast can defend well enough to compete, and they can shoot. All the old guys are part of teams that aren't well built around them, and they're too old to defend well.

Big Brain Idea - Instead of getting Beal, Pat Riley convinces Phoenix to send them Booker for Butler. Still fixes the skillset overlap problem for Phoenix. Miami sends their 2029 & 2031 1sts as well, then in a separate trade (to stay CBA compliant) sends them Kalel Ware. For Phoenix trade ends up being essentially Booker for Butler, Ware, and 2 1sts. Seems like a fair deal if they want to still try and compete with Durant as opposed to tearing it down. For Miami you get your long term star to pair with Bam.

Now you need a 1 thru 10 roster running the league. Look at the underachieving teams with stars. LAL, PHX, Milwaukee, SAS, even Dallas when one of their stars go down. They're top heavy and no one outside of the starting five is making an impact.

If you compile a big 3 with 3 max contracts, at least make it a coherent trio and make sure it's actually three players worth of their contract. Beal wasn't worth that deal, even without hindsight, and has too much positional overlap with Booker. There's a reason about those reports of both Vogel and Bud wanted to have a real PG.

the notion of Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks being on the same team is kind of hilarious to me ngl. They're like diametrically opposite type dudes.

As a suns fan I have been saying this for a bit. It’s probably over. I love dbook, love kd, Bradley’s all right. But I wouldn’t be mad if we traded all of them and started tanking

Losing to my Hornets in that fashion was ridiculous Edit: it is ironic you had bold positive predictions for the hornets and the suns
