Woke up last year. What woke me up was one of the elders (during a zoom meeting) gushing and going on and on about Jehovah's hand in building Ramapo. He reminded me of one of the Stepford wives. I couldn't believe anyone would go along with such craziness. I was 72 then (73 now) and had been a witness my entire life. I was happier I suppose when I thought I would live forever on the paradise earth, but now that I have read Ray Franz's book and done my research, I can't unknow what I know about Russel and Rutherford and their lives. I do enjoy not feeling guilty for not going out in service. I always felt so inadequate and nervous in service. Don't give up hope.

My mum woke up at 72. She regrets wasting 50 years in the cult. The fallout is traumatic. She has had a lot to deal with mentally. But at least she talks to me after shunning me for 26 years. Which is another story in itself.

My ex-elder husband and I exited the cult in our mid-60s--5 years ago. It's been difficult at this age being shunned by family and friends, but we're having fun at last with the time we have left. I hope your sister wakes up too. What helped us the most was researching the history of JWs in the old publications.

I miss my parents dearly, I got myself DFed at 17/18 because I didn't want to live anymore. I woke up on my own and knew something was very wrong. It took 2-3 years to heal, thank goodness I got out young. I constantly tried to share proof with them of how corrupt everything is. Now I've stopped. They've blocked me everywhere, I'm dead to them, I don't even want them to wake up anymore. I'd rather let them go, I really don't think they could handle it at 48-50 years old.

Because of the great book burning in the 60's, there are very few of these old toxic publications left (we had a bonfire at the back of the KH in Cairns). Anyway, most Jw's will come up with the line, "Oh we have moved on from that point in time and we have new light(information)" Therefore, it is going to be difficult my friend, all the best and keep us updated on your progress.

May I add my two penn'orth - I think page 15 of the May 22 1969 "Awake" is huge, especially for people who are in their 60s and 70s etc: QUOTE: If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment af Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the be ginning of the "last days" in 1914, Jesus foretold: "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things accur."-Matt. 24:34. Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone! END OF QUOTE. I'm 73. Had I, as a young man of 19, followed the stupid guidance above, I wouldn't have met my wife, I wouldn't have my children and grandchildren, my business, my house and financial independence. I made a KILLING on ebay selling off my " theocratic library " I inherited from my grandparents. I had stuff going all the way back to Russell and even memorabilia from the massive mid century conventions including the tetragramaton mini bumper stickers they put on their cars to spot each other on the road. I coukdnt believe the prices I was getting on no reserve auctions. $800 for the BIG green 1960s bible that was the predecessor to the reference bible. I can relate to that. Threw all of it away, ripping them up to protect others from ever reading it. Hindsight is twenty twenty. But in the moment that's what I did. I think all I wanted to do was be as far away from it as I could, even though I I still wasnt 100% sure until 30 something years later. So, no judgments for anyone who has done this, for I know how having the information around can be triggering.

We all know that's not how this works. Imagine you are a current JW. If someone showed me a 90 year old doctrine of my religion I would simply look at it as "old light". It's how the organization used to teach a doctrine until Jehovah shed light on it lol. There is truly no article written by the ORG that can wake someone up.

I firmly believe the waking up process depends on the person and their need to believe in the Watchtower narrative. I started to wake up around 2016/17 and am now fully awake. However, going from being a Ministerial Servant to now being POMO causes huge issues between my wife and I. One day I showed my wife the book whereby Joseph Rutherford stated that he believed Jehovah was transmitting thoughts to him via the angels in some unexplainable supernatural way, and that there was no longer a need for holy spirit. She read those words herself directly from the pages of a Watchtower publication. Her response? To get angry at me and tell me to never show her material like this again! You see, her Mum died when she was 13, and she needs the Watchtower narrative to be true so she can see her Mum again in paradise. I feel people like my wife will never wake up, despite whatever you may show them from historic Watchtower publications.

Unfortunately you cannot talk to a witness spouse they are programmed so strongly it's impossible to have a open and honest non confrontational discussion. Last week on the news the was a bad news story straight away my Wife quotes Jeremiah 10 :23 whilst at the same time not questioning why a almighty powerful let's Approximately let's 60 Millon people die every year. My personal experience is as long as we don't talk about religion generally our relationship is fine .

A book that's easy to find is "Life Everlasting in the Freedom of the Sons of God". It's from the 1960s, and I bought a used copy online because this would have been the book that was the foundation for my mother's conversion to JWs in the 1960s. I started reading it, but it's so dense and silly, I didn't get past chapter 2 or so. But an interesting item is the chronological table starting on page 31. It lists years of supposed milestones in human history, starting with 4026 BCE as the year of Adam's creation (!). It lists 1975 as the 6000th year of man's existence. The caller could ask his sister in what way 1975 was important. Any milestones in human history that happened then? The sister should of course remember that failed 1975 prophesy. I think the caller's best hope is that in this manner, he might plant some small seeds of doubt in his sister's mind, just something that could grow into an awakening. But I agree with Lloyd, it's a long shot.

Former Elder Bethelite JW here. The problem is simple: unless you have something to replace all the bricks in their religious fortification, you are breaking them with no protection for their heart mind and beliefs. I asked myself: “what am I giving them after destroying their understanding? The Truth? Not really. And not much in terms of information that could replace their comforting . paradigm. A person must WANT to wake up rather than be safe and comfortable. I think each has their own time and path to awakening. Be strong!

Just a thought How about finding the old "The Truth That Leads To Everlasting Life " Book where it teaches the year 1975 as the end date of 6,000 years and the incoming of paradise earth. The new version of this book was updated and all of this was taken out. I studied the old one back in the late 60"s and remember well expecting Armageddon for 1975 because of that book. Today they say no such thing was said, this old book shows the contrary, the new book is a cover-up I must say. Anyway just an idea sent out in case. Always appreciate your work Lloyd. 🤗

I had to put a sign on my door saying "jehovahs witnesses are not welcomed here, police will be contacted if you tresspass" because my Mother just wouldn't stop trying to witness to my 5year old, it took alot for me to do it but why tf should I feel uncomfortable in my own home by having continuously asking her not to preach to my daughter but you are more than welcomed to spend time with your granddaughter..only to be ignored as though a child stuck in the past when I was ordered to be a JW because it was "her roof"...I have to do therapy now (38yrs old) because of the absolute rage I've carried for years but have only now realised where most of this rage has come from - disfellowshipped 21 years ago....also I myself realising that I more than likely won't be "allowed" to attend my Mother's funeral (she's 70yrs old now - and been a JW since she was 18yrs old) which is a pill I know I will have no choice but to swallow...also she has for years told me not to go to her funeral - which is always nice to hear your parent say...

Depending on how long she had been involved with and how strongly Art's JW sister believes in the Witness faith, she may never leave the JW Organization. After all, she nearly lost her son by being willing to sacrifice both his health and his life in obedience to the Witnesses' rule against having blood transfusions. She has to be deeply entrenched in the faith. You have to consider that this woman is probably in her late 60s. It can be harder for elderly people to leave the denomination, but it isn't entirely impossible. Art can try to inspire her to start questioning her beliefs, but just remember that doing so might inspire a Witness to potentially shun you when you attempt to "wake" them up. That is a possibility you have to be willing to risk.

It was hard enough dissociating aged 57 in 2018 , I couldn't imagine leaving in my late 60,s which means basically the last 10 years of my life are going to be very lonely. Fortunately even though I'm a extrovert I'm learning to love being a recluse it,s taken 4 years though , and secondly I,m lucky my beautiful pimi jw wife Nicole aged 50 still loves her apostate born-again atheist husband. I think almost any form of literature the Watchtower Society produces is damning, whether it be old or new. I also don't think only one book can really suffice. The statements made about "commercial Jews" in the Declaration of Facts seems to point to a nasty stereotype about Jewish people being "exceptionally greedy and money hungry businesspeople". If the Society in 1934 wanted to criticize Big Business and greedy corporatism and the role they play in the oppression of many people, fine, but I think they went about it the wrong way. As bad as American and British colonialism have been, they were not the only countries engaging in that sort of behavior. As for claiming New York is "owned by Jews and run by Irish Catholics" and that the Society "has nothing against any of these groups", if that were completely true, the Society would never have quoted that proverb.

(Acts 3:15) 2- know that you are a sinner in need of a saviour, you can’t get to heaven by trying to be a good person (Ephesians 2:8), (Romans 3:23) 3- Turn from sin (1 Corinth 6:9-10), (Mathew 7:22) 4- Live for God (John 3:3), (2 Corinth 5:17) We cannot turn from sin and live for God by ourselves, we can only do it by the help of God’s Holy Spirit (that comes to live in our hearts) and the Bible. God lives through us. however if we keep on resisting the Holy Spirit and hardening our hearts there is no forgiveness.
