Caller lays into Lib Dem MP for refusing to accept Brexit | LBC

A caller laid into Liberal Democrat leadership hopeful Layla Moran for refusing to accept the result of the Brexit referendum.
During Iain Dale's phone-in with Ms Moran - who is considering standing for leadership - Cornelius called up and he didn't hold back.
The Liberal Democrats failed to make gains in the General Election in December as Boris Johnson swept to a big majority behind his promise to "Get Brexit Done".
He said: "She still doesn't accept the general election result, the result of the referendum and they will still try to oppose any deal and make it difficult for Boris Johnson to bring back any deal to parliament.
"We had to have another general election because parliament was blocked and you're still rabbiting on about staying in the EU.
"If you are so entrenched in the EU, why don't you just get a job with the EU? Clear off!"

There’s nothing wrong with being the opposition in Parliament. What is wrong is when you vote overwhelmingly to hold a Brexit referendum then when you don’t like the result try and reverse it. When on the rare occasion Parliament does ask the people directly to make a decision then you HAVE to abide by that decision. It’s nothing to do with being in opposition or not.

The annihilation of Labour and LibDems at the general election proved that democracy is important. When I did 'O' level and 'A' level politics, the purpose of the opposition was defined as "to watch, warn, and criticise". That phrase was heavily highlighted as it was looked for by the examiner. It was Never taught that the purpose of the opposition was to blindly oppose everything and anything. This is the problem with Parliament. We're the opposition so we have to fight whatever is put forward regardless of it's worth or validity. Instead, they should say we understand this proposal is going forward, and ideas X,Y and Z can be tweeked because they would be better or enhance the proposals. This how it should be done, but they're so stuck in power struggles and bureaucracy nothing ever gets done or done well.
