Sonic Colors | The Sonic Game I Hate That Everyone Seems To Love

This video was very difficult to make. Not only do the puppet animations take forever, and there's a lot more of them in this video compare to any other video I worked on. But it was also difficult to get a good balance of Funny Moments, complaining, as well as us giving proper criticism and praise for Sonic Colors. My full opinions of this game will never change, and I know a lot of people will probably hate on me for this video. I just want to say though, that if you like Sonic Colors, that's awesome. and I'm so happy that you were able to find enjoyment with it! I do hope that any of you major Sonic Colors fans, will still find something to like about this video.

I did find Sonic Colors really fun back in the day, especially after unlocking Super and glitching it out like crazy...but it definitely was a quality drop. I really miss Jason's Sonic, but I feel like Roger definitely has the ability to be a good Sonic. They just need to write him like they used to. Cocky yes, but still serious enough to make it shown that Sonic does know the danger he's in while fighting ancient beasts from the earth's core or a genie planning to enter and destroy the real world.

There's actually a video out there showing the original level plans for Colors. Originally each zone was just two main acts with the good levels being the only ones. REALLY wish they stuck to that instead of what they did for the final game...

I feel so vindicated seeing this video. I will never understand why people complained about forces bad 2d level design when nobody complained about colors for doing the exact same thing first. They tried designing sonic as if it were a mario platformer without taking his speed or moveset into account. why are they cramming sonic into these tight corridors with precision platforming? where are the ramps?

I think the reason why everyone liked colors (Or colours if you live in europe... ) Is that because of how it Looked and how it played, not the levels themselves. nor the awful writing of pontac and graff, and the 2D Segments on the levels? it made sense for wii since it used a wiimote, (Tho you can use other controllers But still.)

I'ma put a target on myself and say that I like Lost World more than Colours. In terms of story both have really cool concepts with nice new additons (Wisps and Zeti), but just executed TERRIBLY, and I really can't say which one I prefer over the other 'cause I really don't care for either. Lost World at least had some cool Eggman scenes (the strangle a Zeti line and faking his death to trick Sonic) so it gets points for that. So really when I compare the two games it's purely from a gameplay standpoint, and I like Lost World's gameplay better. Don't care for the tube world style but I love the mechanics and the physics in it. It brings the spindash and does it justice (also gives Sonic a dropdash - the thing people love so much in Mania) and the platforming is really well-handled.

I'll be honest when I say the only reason I "love" Sonic Colours is more than likely entirely because of nostalgia. My cousin had it when I was younger, and I was able to play through it once or twice, and as a kid with limited Sonic experience I loved it, and have been riding off of those memories since when thinking about this game. And honestly this video made me realize just how little of the game I actually remember. Nostalgia is very powerful.

Not like Sonic Boom or Sonic Forces or Sonic Shuffle. Then again, I'm not calling those 3 games 0/10. They do have some good things about them(Sonic Forces's OC creation and Shadow being a bit more like how he was in the Dreamcast era, Sonic Shuffle's visual style and only being bad due to poor game design choices, Sonic Boom's TV show-) But their flaws overwhelm the good things.

I'm with Callie on this one in Colors being actually one of the worst games leading into the new dark age of Sonic this I hope the Sonic 2022 can get it out of and bring back the good writing for the characters and have someone other than Sonic actually doing something in the story and even as a separate playable character, but knowing SEGA that isn't happening because they fail to understand why we like the characters and older games because they are actually written as people and not just plot devices that look like the characters we all fell in love with

@@CallieMacN that is true. I personally don't like sonic games due to it being too fast paced, but I hope people will enjoy it and show the game some love. Its a great game. I just wish it had a better output.

Good video! Fun fact about Colo(u)rs! The levels in Colors are actually split up into different acts. If you merge the end of the some of the acts to the beginning of levels they connect seamlessly. It's theorized they were split into multiple levels is to pad out playtime
