I got these for my birthday and I was just starting calligraphy, so I think they are pretty good for a beginner. They are definetly cheaper than the tombow brush markers, but I think they have basically the same result. I would recomend getting these :)

Thank you, great review. I got some brush pens here in Austria (from Maped) and I'm having the same problem with the tips... they don't bounce back! I was thinking I was doing something wrong but now I see it's just the quality of the tips. What should I do to avoid damaging this brush pen tips? I've already damaged a couple of them :(
@HowtoHandLetter7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean that they are fraying or that they are bending? A good brush marker should bounce back even when you push hard - so it might not be you! But if they are fraying, you might want to try a smoother paper! I use the HP Premium Choice Laserjet Paper, though I know it's not available in every country. You could try a marker paper or just a high quality copy paper that is smooth! Good luck!

My mum got this for my birthday last year. Since they're Crayolas, I didn't use them much since I draw manga and didn't letter (the color selection isn't great for manga). Anyways, recently I stumbled upon calligraphy videos with Crayolas because I've been wanting to learn to hand letter. This is a great video! Now I've got a much better use for these 😅😘

Hi..i just purchased this kit last week in walmart (Canada) for lije 16$..im just getting hooked with calligraphy..i was initially checking for the crayola markers when i saw these..and i get so excited with them coz it says brush pens..but when i tried using it the first time..i was a bit disappionted coz i thought it would really be a bit softer the brush but like what you said..they are a bit stiff and not writing very smoothly...although i may say they were not too bad...i got to write very slowly to get the result i am aiming for. I guess i would go and buy the crayola markers as well to try. 😊

@chloeelsa48705 жыл бұрын
I have the crayola brush pens that I got from hobby lobby and they work pretty good but as you said they do stay bent which I hate and they do become all poofy at the tip after you use them for a long time so I would probably go with the other brush pen you had NOT from crayola.
@deejackson85546 жыл бұрын
I only own the Crayola brush tips and they soften up as you use them and 100% are better for lettering than the supertip/broad tip.
@multifandom40927 жыл бұрын
true fully i prefer the tombows and the super tips bc the broad tips leave marks on my hand not bc of the marker tip just bc i hold pens close to the end and then i get blisters if i use the wrong pen. i don't think i'll invest in the crayola version though. i saw some really good bullet tip markers really cheap at Michaels and they come in a wide variety of colors, but somehow i can't think of the name.

Did u know that if you don't like the Crayola markers that if you call or email their customer service number that they'll either replace them or send u something new in the mail if, for example, you bought them for the suggested advertising purpose and they didn't do what you thought they were supposed to do or perform like expected that they'll usually ask u a series of questions and will send u a coupon for another of their products they think will work or they just give it to you. Only once did I ever have them ask for the product I bought back & they ended up accepting just a copy of the reciepts where I bought them & I kept both. But big companies like that, often times, will tell you that they appreciate you taking the time to call them with feedback on the product. So long as you're not expecting them to replace them or give your money back or something but rather you're calling to tell them what you think especially if it doesn't align with your advertising and if it's expensive and especially if it's new.. a new line, I mean. Not just new to you personally. You can't go buy a box of 12 standard Crayola crayons and then call them and go "oh, well, they didn't color as expected" because that's a product that's been around for eons. But with new product purchases, calling the companies 800 number often times will get you freebies or discounts exchanges I even had them one time send me not only a comparable product to the one I bought but a whole bunch of other new products that they hadn't even launched yet but we're still doing it testing and practicing and stuff on and they send you a survey so you get to try products that aren't even out yet. So if you didn't like them for one reason or another especially since you have a KZbin channel I imagine then call them up and just talk to them about it and like, just don't expect them to give you anything but they probably will.

Honestly, I have a love hate relationship with these markers. The price point is great for brush pens in general, plus, they are super easy to find because they are sold in stores. However, when I use these markers to handletter, I find that if I drag it on the downstrokes for too long(if that makes any sense), it leaves these weird skid marks, and it happens when I'm writing certain letters. IDK if its just how I hold/use the pen, but I'm just curious to see if it happens to anyone else. I'm not the biggest fan of the packaging because it does feel cheap and I dislike how the brush pen and bullet tip are different colors from each other. However, if they did make more colors, I honestly would buy them.
@HowtoHandLetter6 жыл бұрын
I totally understand! I actually find the more I use them the worse they get. I tried one just the other day and the tip was so flopped over that I could hardly even get different strokes. And I don't think I mentioned the color thing in this video but that's so true! I have one that I love the bullet tip light pink color and then the brush tip is super dark like a mauve/rose color! I definitely don't think it's you, there's just not a lot of flexibility with these! Thanks for watching!

I'm so sorry if this is an inconvenience to you, but I cannot stand the sound of the friction between the pens and the paper. It's like screeeerrrrrnnn. It makes me cringe, and I'm very sensitive to certain sounds. Someone scratched a metal bench and I burst out crying. This obviously isnt that bad, and your vids are for learning purposes, I just dont know how you can STAND that.

I wonder if she's using a paper with a bit of a waxy or shiny finish/surface. That's the sound you get when the paper isn't entirely a matte surface. Or turn the volume down on the video, so you don't hear the sound of the marker.

@HowtoHandLetter7 жыл бұрын
penguin kyungsoo you are totally right! But the thing is, it's not because of a shaky hand. It's because the tip of the brush pen doesn't bounce back when you switch from downstroke to upstroke, so it's not really preventable with these pens 😕
