Block mod doesn’t really help either, there are cars that crack the linter with it installed. I’ve been on 320 for a long time and I don’t have block mod. The Focus ST engine isn’t modified by Ford from its Volvo specification - it’s the same as in the C30/S40/V50/C70 and is a proper Volvo engine, despite what the Volvo purists say. My C30 is similar spec but going for much more power and LSD etc. The RS oil cooler really isn’t big enough for track work at this level. If you thought the coolant was hot you should try logging oil temp - and the oil temp gauge on the dash is fake. You will have got the oil mega hot.

Audi engines tend to sound a little sharper and more aggressive, a slightly nicer sound. The Volvo variants almost sound a little lazy in comparison at least in stock form, even though they perform well. The Volvo engines were designed to be compact and small, so they run a small bore cylinder and long stroke meaning they don't tend to love high RPM. The cylinder head design also suffers from the fact that they made the head very compact and low. Weird angles on the intake and exhaust ports.
