I hunt like that Catman - compound bow from the ground. It is extremely difficult. So many busted opportunities trying to get to full draw. I think a recurve would be much faster, esp if I learned to shoot instinctive. Drawing a compound back and getting set through a peep sight is very slow business. I too compound hunt from the ground. Nov 5th I drew 3x on a spike that came to 38 yds, but didn't give me a clean shot. One week later God let me take him with a 165 yd shot in rifle season.

I love all your videos and you are a good shot but do you practice any scent control, I haven't had any deer smell my ground scent for years or been snorted at while in the tree. The boot thing is easy, I put any pair of boots in the garden and cover as much as possible with dirt and on the way to the stand I scuff the soles with any dirt or mud before climbing up, foolproof. Just trying to help.

Most ground scent doesn’t come from boots, your whole body leaves scent behind... I will occasionally use scent control if I’m trying to slip into the middle of a bedding area and sit for a few hours. Otherwise it’s not worth the effort, I’ve been busted plenty of times even while using scent control.

I'd better hunt a lot in a tree stand with a bow, The 1st time I wore rubber boots to my tree stand It's when I got my 1st bear, And 2nd bear. I knew they were smelling my feet and avoiding me, I have my stand set up at a really good water hole with lots of cover, Now I only bear hunt with rubber boots and cover up scent.
