She's not highlighting those influencers as being good in the beginning, she was explaining the way they make money as influencers! The point was to give examples of how much money people can make as fitness influencers, to show the motive the influencers might have for misrepresenting things.

around 3:10 mark, she does say that the influencers are selling products the right way- but the description of the products they're selling (fitness guides, apps, meal plans) are a bit off, like "eat and train to look like X influencer". So I understand his confusion because the description or "promises" advertised by these influencers are feeding further in diet culture yet she's saying they're doing it the right why, while disagreeing with their message. I think she's trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and doesn't want to come across as rude, seeing different perspectives, but I think she's blurring the lines and doesn't say her point clear enough :)
@dismurrart66482 жыл бұрын
So she says immediately before that these are examples of them selling the right way. There's a mix of fitness programs but then threw in Chloe tings clothing line which is arguably the most harmless of all the big influencer stuff. Tbh I don't find it particularly self evident based on that alone

one thing to add is that for most of these fitness influencers it's their JOB to be a fitness influencer=to look like they do. their job is to eat a certain way, to train a lot, and... well that's pretty much it if you exclude shilling useless supplements and sub par quality leggings. so of course they have more time to do all that also, a lot of them get surgery or body fillers (sculptra)

I don’t think influencers are doing anything different than ads for gyms or athletic clothing or protein supplements haven’t been doing for years. We all know that it promotes unrealistic standards. We all know a lot of it is BS. We all know they’re making money off people’s insecurity. We just get disproportionately offended by influencers because when they advertise to us, it’s designed to feel like word of mouth advice, which we’re more inclined to take seriously and are therefore easier to scam/take advantage of. To me, that’s actually the problem, and it would be the problem regardless of what they’re selling.

Never feel self conscious of how much you eat. If you either are at a healthy weight and not gaining significant amount of weight, or if you are gaining weight to get at a healthy weight (whatever the reason), you are doing things as best for YOU. I basically eat 50 to 100% bigger (yup twice as much) portions as before, because I did a reverse diet which allowed me to get back to normal portions to sustain my sport sessions and normal life without yoyo-ing 🤗

Fact: you can grow or shrink your bones. Bone mass corresponds to usage. More resistance = thicker bones. Less resistance = thinner more brittle bones. I know that’s not what she’s talking about but she’s still factually incorrect. Someone who does resistance training will likely have thicker bones compared to a person who does exclusively cardio. You also lose bone mass when you don’t use or maintain use of bones.

As a woman who's got the booty to end all booties (not that it's the best booty ever, although I think it's pretty high up on the list, but it's just huge and has its own orbit, basically), it bothers me to see all these booty-specific workouts. Because I know for a FACT that I only have this booty thanks to genetics. I didn't have a big butt before I started lifting, but after 8 years of lifting, it's gargantuan. 30" waist, 43.5" butt. And Im not all that strong, to be honest. I work out with women waaay stronger than me, but they don't look like me. It's always a disappointment to people who ask me how I get my legs and butt to look like they do, and I tell them, "I don't do anything specific. I show up to my gym and do what my coach writes on the whiteboard. Genetics did the rest." I'd love to look like these tiny little muscular girls, but instead I have huge shoulders, a wide back, and a booty that requires me to size up at least one size in pants. I'll be 39 in 4 days, and I still haven't learned how to be happy in my body. Maybe one of these days 🤞🏼

It kind of bothers me that she says "all people, especially women, are built differently." Implying that each woman is more different than each man, which is simply untrue. There's an equal amount of diversity regardless of gender. This is something I've noticed a lot with the body positivity community, where in a round a bout way they're promoting sexism. It's like they find something they don't like about their body (particularly something that they could change if they wanted to) and then claim that there's nothing they can do because they're women and that's just the way they are. Which is not the case at all. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but it's something that has always turned me off from the "body positivity" stuff.
