I lost 50kg (110 lbs )in 9 1/2 months now. I completely changed my diet and started lifting, pretty happy about my progress. I even made good gains while in a big deficit and never felt this good in my life. I use IF and a normal diet with a bit more focus on protein but nothing is forbidden.. this way I hope I can sustain it forever and lose some more and keep the weight then.

I had a similar experience. I was trying to lose weight for my health and to go into the air force. So I ran an hour and a half every morning. Did a couple hours of various weightlifting everyday and then ended with calisthenics. I lost about 80 pounds in 10 months from the scale. My waist went from a 52 to a 36. I ate literally whatever I felt like while making sure I got enough vitamins. Then I hurt my back and I was so hungry from eating so much all the time and from stress eating. I gained every pound back.

I went from 439 pound down to 243 pound in about in about 2 years. Majority of the weight came off in the first 16 months, I started to slow down afterwards because my body felt like it was starting to crash. Unfortunately, I’m typing this out after having to have my gallbladder removed due to rapid weight loss. My point is yes it’s nice to see the number on the scale change and watch old clothes start to fit you loosely. Just don’t do anything crazy, it’s not a race.

"I'm not losing weight because I don't eat enough" leaves out the crucial second part of that situation. It's hiding a problem that can happen as a result of over-restricting (NOTE: I am not saying that anyone is or should be advocating for that, in this video or otherwise). I would say that people who TRY to eat too little/are restricting too much are likely to end up overeating later in the day. So, are they truly *not* eating enough? No. They are eating *too much,* with the initial intention of eating a lot less. idk if that makes sense but that would be my interpretation

There is a lot of evidence that the body is partial to eating away muscle and other tissues instead of fat stores in really restrictive situations, which can make it harder to burn fat through exercise.

I just want to say that I really needed to hear this from you and thank you! I've been watching your channel for a while now and am enjoying it immensely. I've tried to lose weight a few times now and really struggled with it. Then I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and it seemed to make sense. I got on meds and thought (incorrectly) that it would now be easier. It seems so simple, calories in calories out, and that's what it boils down to. But there's a lot more surrounding it than that. Thank you!

I've lost 52 lbs since last Easter (22) so in about 6 months. It went pretty quickly and I found that for me the most important thing was to make sure I had enough vitamins and other nutrients in my diet. And since I've been doing low carb, high protein, it didn't even feel like a traditional 'diet' where I'm constantly looking for my next meal. I sometimes even forget to eat. That's something that would never have happened before. So it's a life style change more than anything.

I lost 10 kg(22lbs) in about 4-6 weeks doing alternate day fasting. I probably lost a bit of muscle, but I also lost a lot of visceral fat. It definitely slows down the metabolism temporarily. I started getting cold on fasting days. I took that as a sign that my body has entered caloric restriction. It didn't seem damaging, if I ate in a surplus for a few days I'd return to feeling hot again.

I lost around 210 lbs by cutting out carbs, and yeah it went quickly. I've been eating without restriction now since may, and have been able to maintain in the 170s since then. It is the exception and not the rule. the only reason I've been able to do it is because while I was in weight loss, I was also identifying the deeper aspects of binge eating and my relationship with food and working on THAT. once it was clear I had developed a different sort of eating disorder, I had to address that pretty quickly because the amount of weightloss was becoming too dramatic for my frame. I was lucky and everything I have learned has allowed me to find a balance that works for my body and life. Also a deep fear of being that overweight again is a really terrific motivator to not do it again.

I think there's a difference between an excessive caloric deficit longterm and a fast initial start. Personally, I think it's very helpful for obese people to start with a really restrictive 1-2 weeks. There are number of reasons for this. The first is that you can dump a boatload of fat and weigh during that time, and it's really motivating. The second -- and this largely pertains to very low carb, no processed food approach -- is that you can feel tremendously better after eating 2 weeks of low carb, anti-inflammatory foods. Like mostly fish, olive oil and veggies. Coming off a pro-inflamatory junk food diet, the difference can be dramatic. The improved joint pain, decreased aches and pains and improved flexibility and mobility are highly motivating. You're not going to lose much muscle for a short period of more severe retstriction either. After that time, segue into a more sustainable and modest caloric deficit. Of course, everyone is difference and some might binge from restriction. But this work for many I've known.
@manicpepsicola3431
@manicpepsicola3431 2 жыл бұрын
Also something that's always worked for me was restricting somewhat heavily for the first 2 weeks. Then after that I stop eating once I start feeling slightly full, which happens way quicker after 2 weeks of restriction, and it just makes things less complicated in the long run.

Medical weightloss and Bariatric surgery can both have rapid weightloss. These tend to be very short term. The thought is those with massive amounts of weight to lose will lose motivation with how long traditional weightloss will take. That said these diets are usually short to prevent metabolism damage.

I lost weight through keto and after the first year I slowly started integrating the carbs back into my diet. I haven’t gained back the weight since I’ve been keep a watch on my portions and not eating tons of processed food (sugar is not good no matter what diet you’re on). I plan on making pasta by hand and adding some vegetables and protein to it for my next adventure. I jumped the keto ship this year as well. I’ve lost 35 lbs since march just counting my calories and eating clean 80% of the time and letting my self have the things I want in moderation plus strength training and a couple sessions of cardio per week. ❤😊

I realized i truly have to cut my calories and keep at it constantly & increase my exercise levels every day but keep doing it every day in order to see real results. And it takes a long time before i see real results. It’s the slow route that works. Just be patient and keep being consistent and the weight will gradually fall off of you overtime. It may take several weeks or one month before you see real results on your body. Keep up with ur regular eating routine & normal exercise routine. Don’t be too hard on yourself and just let time do the work. But put in the effort. And yes, stay away from most sweets. I have been boredom binging lately & baking and ordering uber eats ugh 😑 i know and i gained a lot of weight so now i’m going to enjoy lean protein and salads and increase my exercise by a bit more & watch how the pounds fall off within consistent effort. Just dance in a private room & do indoor cycling. The truth is: you HAVE to eat. It’s a law of nature. You have to eat enough energy so u expend it. BUT YOU HAVE TO EXERCISE & expend it! You have to do this every day to stay healthy. We as humans were not meant to be sitting around all day or at a work desk & start gaining weight. Humans have legs and arms for a reason. We are supposed to be active!! Let’s all be active! Let’s do some form of movement every day. And you’ll see some significant changes in ur body every day. Eat normally. Healthy foods. Stay within ur total calories for the day WITH a slight deficit & EXERCISE AT LEAST 1 hour a day. 45 minutes or an hour a day. Do some cardio & strength training! Lift some dumb bells, kettle bells etc… but you have to eat!! This is what i did before & YES U DO GAIN THE WEIGHT BACK & MORE IF U RESTRICT URSELF TOO MUCH! Eat normally & exercise normally & just be patient & just watch how the weight falls off normally. And be patient with yourself

Nothing extreme just a combination of multiple factors that have helped. The best thing I did was pray for help and have accountability from family and friends--- this enabled me to start making changes and build on it. I started with not eating any desserts for 2 weeks. Since I was eating dessert every day beforehand, this was difficult but after 2 weeks I didn't want dessert anymore. Then I cut out fast food. Then I started cooking breakfast instead of eating food from boxes and bags. My go to is an egg and avocado on a low carb fold it wrap. Then I started eating more salads for lunch. Now I am building on that to start cooking more for dinner. And throughout this, I walk every day with my dog. I started in September and so far 14 lbs released naturally and easily as I continue to focus on eating nutritious foods. And this is my lifestyle now so the weight will come off as it will but I will continue to eat this way.

The main thing to succeed in a diet is to find a diet for YOU. Plain and simple. You need to find ways to eat that don't make you feel like you're missing out. I yo-yo'd for years after high school trying all these fad diets until I was successful after doing my own research and my own trial and error. Essential I crafted my diet around foods I most commonly craved, however I made versions of those foods at home. The amounts of calories you can avoid by making simple ingredient substitutions is incredible! And sure, my homemade Taco Bell inspired Crunch Wrap Supreme is only saving 200 or so cals compared to driving up to Taco Bell and me opting for cauliflower rice in my burritos instead of real rice saves me from 300 or so....seems insignificant right? Well what about over the course of a week's worth of meals? A month's? It adds up so play the long game my friends and it will pay off.

The thing about fad diets is at least they give you a plan. Every other "health" guru is super vague. They say don't do this or that without saying what *to* do. Counting calories is so difficult unless you eat at home. How many kcals are in a slice from the pizzeria down the block. Also, I get too focused on numbers when I count kcals. It feels disordered. I feel frustrated.

Me I lost 35lbs in 6 weeks by greatly doing endurance exercises (long walks, jogging, biking, jump rope) & eating around 1500 calories a day (at least 30g of protein). I allow 1 cheat snack a week where I eat an additional 2000 calories (usually a family pack of cookies or gallon of ice cream) to snack on for half the week so I won't binge... Fast forward to now (2 months later) I've only rebounded 5lbs (btw im 155lbs) and this is a sustainable thing. Its about BALANCE (also cut out sugar drinks & sauces/syrup on food).✌
