Watch for "crankwalk" in these motors. Main crank bearing fails with too much boost and a heavy duty clutch, sadly the 4663 is notorious for it. I've loved this build so much, having had both a GST & GSX in my late teens/twenties, this brings back so many memories. I used to be able to do a timing belt on a 4G63/4G64 in like 15 minutes.

We all knew this car was not going to be a daily driver, so the harsh clutch isn't too disappointing. I'm glad you guys are ironing out some issues to get this car performing well. A lot of SEMA builds are just for show.

I had a 95 eclipse in 98 for a few years and I still miss that car. I loved the interior it was like being in a cockpit. I ha e looked over the years for a clean lower mileage one and it's impossible to find one for a decent price

Yeah your wastegate spring should always be roughly half of what your max target boost you are trying to achieve, so if 30 psi is your target boost, then wastegate should have roughly 15psi spring in it.

The damper will NOT make power … the function is to decrease the amount of vibrations that cause the parts that need bearings to fail due to the vibrations pushing metal parts through the thin layer of oil pressure making contact at the moving bearing surfaces

@@josiah7068 reduced pumping losses + better harmonics = higher RPM, Higher RPM = more power. the damper itself doesn't add power, but the benefits the damper provides do.

5 lb spring in the wastegate is to small . you are only going to be able to run twice the spring pressure which is 10 .

should have gone with 15 pound springs for base spring pressure for the waste gate or you will be pulling it back apart to install that in when its hot as hell never a fun thing to do. LOl and told you it would be a beast we don't call them Demon star motors for nothing.

You guys need to drive the car around and beat it up a bit to get a feel for the car before racing the Hoonigan truck. From what I seen from thr lightning, is that it has been raced and tested. The numbers may be lower but they are good drivers and are not afraid of beating on their vehicles. Might consider getting a nos tune in there as well. Good luck.

That wastegate setup doesnt really make sense. It's essentially still internally gated but with extra hardware and steps. I dont know that that would solve any boost creep issues just because it doesnt change the flow path.

We couldnt control the old gate properly and wasnt working the way it should. We have better control and more adjustability on the new gate, and is responding to the boost controller inputs much better. Had nothing to do with the flow path, just functionality.

Sooo, yeah, not too much to do, pretty easy.' 🤣🤣🤣

Imagine ever hitting the nitrous too! I guess you could've used the nitrous to ramp the boost faster but it'd be better for longevity and repeatability to just swap the WG spring. Maybe in the future, look into CO2 for WG control(?)

I'm pretty sure the NOS is fake, in the full build video it showed them converting the tanks to air tanks. Usually you want to rely solely on tuning the turbo only setup. I've been out of the import scene for awhile but most big HP cars will run turbo only, N2O only or supercharger only. There is N2O systems that spray the outside of the intercooler to lower the charge air temp and yes you can run N2O into a turbo car or you can supercharger a turbo car, but for absolute power it's easier to keep em separate. That's mainly why in the racing world it's N2O vs Turbo vs Supercharger

Yeah N2O is widely misunderstood, it's sole purpose is to lower the intake air temperature, that means higher O2 so more fuel can be added. It's funny in the OG Fast & Furious when the car blows up, Dom screams NOS !!! Bro N2O is inert, it's not explosive like propane. But back to what your saying, yeah I've seen NOS used a bunch of different ways. On a street turbo setup though, best bet is to use 2 turbos, one is for low-end boost then then the big boy comes in.
