I have to thank you for teaching me some things that I applied yesterday in a very stressful driving situation. I pull a 43' 5th wheel RV with my GMC 3500HD diesel. I'm about 61' long. I pulled into a busy shopping center parking lot on our vacation and immediately realized it was a bad move. The only way out for me was stopping traffic, a long back-up, then exagerated wide turns using all the lanes. My wife helped stop traffic. You taught me to be patient, not rush, and kindly smile & wave when other drivers give me room to maneuver. By watching your video's I actually turned this stressfull situation to fun! I'm 68 years old, so that's also fun for me watching someone as young as you doing what they love, being good at it, and having fun doing it!! Thanks again Matt!!

I just picked up a Moffett too. Great little machines. Next time you have the issue of it not shutting off, open the engine compartment lid, and on the back side (towards the rear of the machine) of the engine you’ll see the fuel shut off lever connected to a solenoid. It should read “stop” on it. You can move it to the stop position and hold it there until the engine dies. Solenoid/solenoid wiring is probably messed up. I just shut mine off manually every time
@em2965 Жыл бұрын
Open the big cover that opens up the whole rear of the machine, about midway up the engine you’ll see the solenoid and fuel valve. If it doesn’t say stop on it, you can always turn the key on and off to see which lever moves. that’s the fuel valve that you would shut off next time

If I remember right, that style of moffett has issues with the fuel shut off. We literally attached a pull cord to temporarily fix the same issue. It's a solenoid that doesn't close a valve, and can also drain your battery if it keeps trying

Have you driven a old school piece of diesel equipment where you have to pull a lever to shut off the engine? I think your forklift is the same, except it has a pull solenoid under the hood that pulls the fuel shutoff for the engine. If it's like my Kubota tractor, this pull solenoid doesn't work sometimes. A little wd 40 on it will help, and believe it or not on mine, if I leave the rpms up a little bit when I turn the key off it works better. You can also get a lawnmower cable and rig it to the fuel shut-off lever on the injection pump and use that to shut it off. It must have a electric fuel lift pump on it, that sounds like the reason it slowly died when you pulled the battery. I bet you have a hard time starting it again after that.
@GeenIdee2 Жыл бұрын
Looks like a return to sender kinda deal not? haha! Turning a diesel off should cut off the fuel. Usually some kind of actuator at the fuel pump if it is mechanical injection. Could be something wrong with the power to that actuator?
@brandonreeves5979 Жыл бұрын
Another great video there sir! Whenever you were changing the belt I was surprised to see that the idler pulley was still in good shape. One time this happened to me, the idler froze up and lost the ball bearings causing the belt to come off of the alternator. I’ve been told cats are notorious for that. Just a little fyi if you didn’t already know that. 😎🤙🏻

So one big thing with going on your own is there’s a cash flow issue where you won’t get paid for a load for a few weeks to a few months after doing it, but fuel comes out almost immediately! So I’m still in the “gotta spend money to make money” phase 😂😅
