I was born and raised in Dubai and with all due respect I have to correct you on some points you stated 1. Using social media is totally fine. What’s not socialy accepted in the UAE is posting about political matters that may harm the UAE. 2. Vape will now be legal in the UAE starting from mid april. 3. You can swear privately and use aggressive hand gestures but with people you know and are familiar with. You can’t do that to strangers or in public because it’s rude to do so. Just to clear things up, showing ur shoulders is okay. Half of my clothes are off shoulders. You can wear whatever you want in the UAE but there are specific places where u have to respect the traditions and the religion like mosques. Regarding malls u can wear off shoulders and skirts. The deess code forbids you wear anything transparent. Any form of nudity is forbidden. You can wear whatever swimsuit you want in public beaches, pools and water parks but you will have to change when leaving the beach, pool or water park.

One of my Australian friend who worked in Dubai for 2 years, was suffocated. She felt violated and said that the reflection from all the glass buildings made the place hotter than it should be. I think it is a concrete jungle soon on the verge of destruction by natural calamities. My friend prefered the greenery of Europe over the sand mirages of Dubai. Personally even I would not like to live in a city with no trees. The city spent billions on creating glass skyscrapers that are just heating up the city, instead they could have created greenery to make the place cooler and habitable.

Take my clothing advice for girls. I’m not from UAE but from a country that mostly muslim so I’m gonna tell u about my country (i think the clothing is kinda similar) 1. You can wear ANYTHING u want but you will get stared at and even photographed 2. Don’t wear shorts if you’re planning to walk on a busy streets or traditional market. 3. Don’t wear Short shorts. At least it goes down to your hand. 4. Don’t wear really short skirts. Few inch above your knee is fine 5. If you go to mosque even if ure not muslim dress appropriately. In my country you have to use long skirts not jeans and not showing ur shoulders 6. ALSO if you’re going to visit the beach, make sure to not wear very revealing clothing (you can still use ur favorite swimwear but make sure to cover up just fine before u hit the beach!) Sure you can use anything you want but the most important thing is you need to feel comfortable ok! I hope this doesnt offend anyone. These tips are from personal experience ❤️

Ok so I was born there and for starters most of that stuff is not at all illegal it is just some stuff you should keep in mind so not to be offensive or start any issues. Videos things and social media is not at all illegal!! And lastly if you talk bad about shakes and/or other important figures in the country publicly, it will just be disrespectful and depending on the intensity of the commentary it could lead to issues with the police. The police aren’t very strict so some of these could be laws but very rarely people would people get caught or get punished for these things. :)

I just back from Dubai yesterday,so I have my own experience about these things..I could say, they do not take these things so seriously..I was really afraid to wear t-shirt anywhere at the beginning but then I realized nobody cares...I was in the Dubai Mall and I have seen many women without long sleves..In the hotel Was the same. Ok,when my boyfriend wanted to go from the beach to the street without a t-shirt,a policeman just reminded him to wear it next time..That was all what happened about the clothes..Nothing else..And I took pictures everywhere and nobody came to me to say: do not do it...So Dubai is very impressive and it is worth to visit once in a lifetime.. :)

Most of these rules aren't actually as strict, as the commentator himself admits! Women from the Ukraine and Russia tend to walk around in hot pants and promiscuous tops. I furthermore seriously doubt that the food court in the Dubai Mall is closed during Ramadan (I might be wrong, though). The officials in Dubai are aware that too many enforced restrictions are bad for tourism. For that reason, you'd almost have to be looking for trouble to get arrested. In general, I discourage people from visiting Dubai for a different reason. Due to its lack of things to do and displaying an extreme case of cultural kitsch, you're better off travelling to a place that has some actual culture and tourist sights.

i have lived and worked in Dubai Abu Dhabi for 5 years as an expat woman and it was the most amazing safe free place you can ever be. Emitatis and everyone was very kind, helpful. The house door or car door is not locked many times, i forgot my purse in the mall parking area inside trolley, my laptop in the airport , NOTHING happened. no one touches. No harrasment. Free to drink, going out, eating in Ramadan. Everywhere is very clean, the toilets in the malls, shops, streets. The salary is good, all the benefits and the salary on time should be paid. it would be perfect if there is shelter for the stray cats and dogs, it is also expensive to transport animals to another country. That is the only comment that i can make about these amazing place.

I have a simpler solution. If Dubai has so many rules and regulations that you are not accustomed to, simply don't go to Dubai. There are many other interesting places and countries with more to offer and less ambiguous restrictions - restrictions that somehow don't make sense at all for a non-muslim person. Even as an asian person myself, it sounds pretty draconian to me - so many do's and don'ts that I have to be careful about. Travel is about relaxing, not worrying all the time whether you will run foul of their laws where the same actions may seem alright in most "normal"countries.

Many of your infos are misleading and needs clarification. If you live in UAE, you would know how it really works here. 🤨 FYI, Dubai is really protective to their Locals, so if you're a tourist you need to abide the law and respect the culture. They are really good and clean people! Wealthy families donate to the less fortunate ones, and you should not intervene when there are problems happening because it should be handled by the law. Yes, you can't drink alcoholic beverages anywhere but you can in a specific place because you dont want a drunk person causing trouble. Eating and Drinking in Ramadan is allowed to non-Muslims because they respect differences! But make sure to do it privately. Affection can be shown moderately! Such as holding hands but don't go too far but it's only for married couples. Smoking should be done privately because the people around you didn't choose to be in that situation, and it's insensitive to smoke everywhere especially to those that have underlying conditions.

Since I live in Dubai I would know if these are true or not and some of them aren’t. First, you shouldn’t swear a lot in public because Dubai is a Muslim city and you should respect the religion. Second, you do have to dress appropriately but not to the point that you can’t show your shoulders. Third, during Ramadan you CAN eat but not in public places, for example if your a tourist, you can eat in your hotel room, and malls in Dubai still open their food courts but put walls around the entrance so ppl who are fasting don’t see. Fourth, filming people without their permission is illegal, but you can take pictures of buildings and places you go to. Fifth, you can vape but not in public places.
