calpak vs baboon to the moon: terra backpack & mini go bag)

I used my baboon to the moon bag for my month long east Asia trip. It’s all I took with me, and it was a life saver. I’m sure people like all the pockets on the other bag, but the waterproof shell aspect of the b2tm bag is a game changer if you have to worry about theft and more extreme weather. Haven’t tried the calpak myself, but I loved my go bag while I was traveling.

For the Calpak backpack I used the duffle strap wrapped through the existing luggage sleeve a couple times as a way to attach it to my carry on vertically.

Calpak actually came out with a bigger (and smaller!) size of the Terra backpack! The bigger one is huge at 50L!

Totally randomly came across this video lol. I’ve used the mini Baboon as a carry on a few times now, and it fits everything I want with plenty of extra space, but that’s because I don’t bring a TON on the plane as I have always had a checked bag. The mini I’ve also taken camping with me for multiple years and I’ve loved it!! I just recently ordered the small (40 L) size just for some extra room for my camping trips. I would definitely want the Calpak bag if I wanted to pack a TON with me on the plane and wanted more organization. I actually had never seen those bags before, so I’m glad this video made me aware of them lol! I love a good bag 😤

the baboon bags do fit a TON!!! and yes, when my husband and i travel we really try not to check a bag lol, we are also so worried about it getting lost and we are also impatient to wait for it to get to baggage claim lol.

it depend on how much you like to bring on trips but personally this type of bags / carry on is more than enough to bring everything i need to my trip 😊

I have the Calpak backpack and the tiny hole of the luggage sleeve is actually a pain point. I discovered on a recent trip it doesn’t fit across all luggage handles, only the narrow ones. Very annoying

ive grown to LOVE my baboon- i have the 40L & am considering this 32L size when traveling budget airlines- i really like that it's just one giant compartment, i find it allows so much more to fit- but i agree that the straps are not very comfy haha

I bought my B2M for budget airline purpose but Flair airlines dimensions are smaller than Spirit and Frontier, so had to buy another backpack. I didn’t want to take a chance of having my bag measured.

Have you tried only extending the luggage handle halfway?

yes, i think the problem is the width of the sleeve and the width of the handle are too close in size, so its not as easy to get over the handle itself. :)

Do tsa ever say anything about you having a liquids in a large cosmetic bag?

i have tsa pre-check (100% recommend) and they never have said anything! if you do fly to europe though, they will make you take your liquids out a stuff them into one ziplock bag.
