My daughters are both lesbians. My husband and I both accepted completely. One daughters BFF recently came out as trans. Her mother turned her back. We now proudly have an unofficially adopted son. Actually, we have unofficially adopted all my daughter's gay friends and shown them the love their families haven't. Everyone has a right to be who they are and to love who they love. LGBTQ+ advocate even before any were in my life and will always be 🥰

His sister Jade performed just before him and was shut down by Simon! Calum, was there for her! This was her dream, he went too support her! Yet, he won and got the career she wanted! It was so sad, yet I was happy for him to get the Golden Buzzer. So emotional! It was a great moment!

When you come out it's not just about telling your parents your gay, it about needing to be prepared to lose them in that moment. I pray that all parents love their kids and accept them as they are. I told my parents on 16 July 1982, that was the last day I saw them, they have both passed now, I never knew if they had regrets. The pain of total abandonment is unimaginable and this song makes me cry for the acceptance I never got. Being gay is not a choice, no one would choose that pain. Please, just love your kids no matter who they choose to love.

OMG... the second video. I hadn't seen it before or even heard the song. Nigel... Your reaction video became OUR reaction video. I'm glad I got to share this moment with you in some way, because this ripped my heart out from the start: I was always the last one picked, ever shunned or even ignored by all but a few classmates. While I was fortunate enough to gain my fathers support at 22, it would be another 18 years before my mother would even consider meeting a man I loved. I can't imagine being able to wear out the emotion in this song. Thank you thank you thank you...

He’s not the original singer/writer of that song. But, his delivery and emotion he put into that song, makes you believe it’s his for sure. I cry every time I hear that song, even though I have a fairly good relationship with my father. My heart breaks and heals every time I hear that song.

I feel you I was at work watching this reaction today and completely balling my eyes out. From day 1 I've taught my kids to be who they are and never be ashamed of it. Myself as well as my daughter are not part of the LGBTQ+ community and my son's are completely supportive. I this song hit me so deeply. I had 3 children and was in my late 20 before I finally admitted who I truly am to my family. And trust me it's much harder to live your entire life as someone your not. So I vowed my babies would never have to do that

That certainly wasn't my experience. My mother threw me out and disowned me. It was horrible and traumatic but looking back it was probably the best thing that could have happened because it gave me freedom and allowed me to escape from an extremely conservative, fundamentalist family and community in Mississippi. I love who am and all that I've accomplished and wouldn't change a thing about what brought me here.

Calum Scott put my son's life to music. My husband passed away in May of 2023. Our 22 year old son found him dead in his chair, so you can imagine the pain that child as experiencing already. He wanted this song played and he wanted his coming out in the eulogy. I was worried. My husband's entire family is Salvation Army, and not exactly lgtbq friendly...right? My son didn't care. Most of our friends were either teachers or people in the art community, and my husband's family sat way over to the other side. We raised our son to just be happy with who he was, but my concern was that one of my inlaws would say something stupid, and this was hardly a time for my son to have to fight a battle against ignorance, but he insisted i play the song and the night before we sat together and wrote his eulogy. A friend's daughter gave the eulogy and they played the song. When it came to the part, "MY FATHER LOOKED AT ME..." my baby boy collapsed into my arms, and for the very first time since his dad died, he was finally able to grieve. That was only allowed to happen because of this man and this unbelievably beautiful voice. When the song ended, i looked around and there wasnt a dry eye in the house. I will always be grateful for this man who gave my son a beautiful gift... to tell a room full of people how much his daddy loved him, without having to say a word. Ya done good kiddo.
