This is such a beautiful song. I'm 49 now, and came out when I was 20. My parents response to me telling them that I was gay was literally "what's the problem?". Never looked back.

I appreciate the emotion you felt for Calum. He got me on the first two lines of his Golden Buzzer. He has matured so much since then and I hope he is as happy as he appears to be. His music is addictive. It is significant to me you appreciate his music as much as I do. I missed his concert in Seattle. 😢

The first Time I watched this video I cried like a baby. Someone had wrote a song that I could truly identify with, it was as if he had put my story in a song. I still get emotional.

Calum sang at the Festival of Remembrance in front of the King and Queen and other Royals. Calum sang beautifully. Funny how you have never heard of someone and then you see them 2 days in a row. I will explore more of Calum Scott.❤ from 🇨🇦

Dear young Mr. Nick Forell, As a 71-year-old gay guy, I feel compelled to thank you wholeheartedly for your genuine expressions of appreciation for Calum Scott, but also for your acknowledgment of the struggles of so many less fortunate gay guys whom Calum has so compassionately validated in their unwelcomed grief and inculcated self-loathing. It makes me genuinely happy in my latter years to know that more younger guys are living lives much more fulfilled than previous generations were able to live. All too many people, and in particular among them many "old gay guys," have expressed to me directly and also incidentally in my presence just how angry they are that "these young people" have no idea just how difficult "it was for us!" Well, that sort of sentiment is as old as humanity itself, one of the 1,000's of less-than-desirable human traits that rears its ugly head from all sorts of sectors of people no matter how their particular "location" in life can be described. It pains me nonetheless that too many older gay guys can find no happiness in the fuller lives that younger gay guys can live today. Of course, considering all cultures worldwide and that there are more than 8 billion humans on this tiny planet Earth, nowhere near enough younger people are living the self-fulfilled lives that I believe every person has a right to live. But your celebration of the artistry, vocal excellence, and aspirational songwriting of Calum Scott is very welcomed by me, and I'm certain many 1,000's of other folks who have heard Calum's music and watched your compassionate and informed video. Once again but never enough, thank you!

Calum is such a beautiful singer, his voice is so distinctive & unique & his song writing is so honest & at times autobiographical like in this song & video. I adore him whether he is collaborating on a dance/pop song or pouring his heart out in the most emotionally raw ballads. He’s a continuous on my daily playlists & I’ve loved watching him blossom from his BGT audition to where he is now. He’s a standout for me as a singer/songwriter in a similar way to Lewis Capaldi. Please keep reacting to Calum & please also listen to more of Lewis too? Bruises, Hold me while you wait, Before you go, Forget me, Pointless, Wish you the best & How I’m feeling now - are a few of my favourites from Lewis. Have you listened to Rise & Dancing on my own by Calum? A great reaction as always Nick, thank you. 😊

Thanks for reacting and sharing. I bawl everytime I hear this. What an amazing gift he has and was so brave to share his story. I'm a mom of a child that has been bullied and I know will continue to have rough patches just because of who she is. I wish our world wasn't like this. I will always be here for her no matter what. I hope everyone watching knows that no matter what you are loved. ❤

It's an absolutely gorgeous song, both in performance and composition. God I wish I could write music!!! Definitely an area that escapes my talents, but I'll happily do or discuss everything else. I just have one little sticking point........the parental acceptance (or whoever makes up the family dynamic) is obviously not always the case. I could have had a son nearing that age. Would I have cared if he had been gay? I wouldn't have given 2 hoots through a rolling donut. You are what/who you are and it's my job and privilege as a parent to love and support you NO MATTER WHAT!! That is NOT a cliche. But because I've been around a few blocks, I just know what he's going to run into, whether he comes out to me or not. As Carmen notes below, it really does tire you out to know that's practically the norm now. Why is that the norm?? Can we just reserve ugliness for baseball/football game crowd jeers?? So, it's also my job as parent to make sure he has some tools to deal with that kind of hate. I don't mean guns and knives, I think you guys know that. But this is another spot where parental failure can occur, especially if they haven't quite dealt with their own issues. If you check out the musical KINKY BOOTS, listen to a solo called "Not My Father's Son" (I think Billy Porter does it best for theater), it will let you in on the pain of getting the opposite of parental acceptance. Actually, there are a bunch of videos recorded by Stefan Hughes and a group he formed called Welsh of the West End (the West End is the theater district of London, Welsh is self-explanatory). He pulled them together bored during quarantine, not all even knew each other! They recorded videos from their homes and he did the arranging from his place. Super talented young people!! Well suited to compare to Callum.

He's gay. In an interview with "Gay Times" he talked about struggling with his sexuality as a teenager, and when he tried to talk about it with a group of friends they abandoned him. When he came out to his parents and family they supported him, fortunately.
