Just reading yesterday in the introduction to Fintan Vallely’s “The Companion to Irish Traditional Music”, that by the late 1960’s there were reckoned to be fewer than 50 Uilleann pipers practicing their art in Ireland. That means that the likes of Liam O’Flynn, Paddy Keenan, Finbar Furey, Paddy Moloney, and their sparse brethren, were particularly responsible for keeping the embers burning so their torch could be passed to Spillane, McGoldrick, McSherry, Stewart and so many other men and women (thank you Catherine Ashcroft, Tara howley, etc.) now, in their ranks of 5,000 or more scattered throughout the globe. Ha ha cheers Allen! Yeah there were some 'challenging' conditions that night!! Extreme heat in the daytime for sound checks, and then really cold at night for the concert! The reeds hung in there!

That's really an awesome set ! I'm jut wandering, Heikki Bourgault seems to have 2 pickups. 1 inside his guitar, and 1 outside, but both seemed to be set up to capture the low strings; so which one did he use to play ? And does anyone have the brands of his pickups ?
