I just came back to say this is the best and most in-depth video on this kit. Well done sir!!

BIG BIG BIG difference in doing this when heads are on the engine!! Good demo of what is actually happening.

I had to do cylinder #7 on the driver side last year. Some garage I used put in a Dorman (or other) cheap insert. It must have lasted 15,000 miles. I never did major engine work before but have done brakes, master cylinder replacement, brake line installs and other small fixes to my truck. I never saw this video but I did order the Cal-Van kit and it worked out great. Very straightforward. I borrowed a friends scope, blew out the debris and so far so good. Going to change spark plugs this weekend, should I be concerned when I back out plug #7? Will the insert remain seated if I followed all of the install steps to the letter? Your thoughts...

Hello Javo, I forgot to JB weld my insert -- should I remove the plug and redo -0 I did use the high temp thread lock

I purchased the same kit for my 5.4l. I changed the plugs and coils in my truck and used it to move across country (3200 miles) pulling a heavy trailer, over a year later I have not blown out a plug, do you suppose I am out of the woods? I figure if a plug was going to blow, it would have done it by now but I am just making an assumption and assumptions have burnt me before.

I would be willing to bet you're all good! It's been quite some time since we did this in my son's truck and have had no issues with it whatsoever. The only real issue (IMHO) you could have is down the road when you change the plugs and the insert comes out with the plug. As you could see in my video, the original problem was only having 3-4 threads to hold the spark plug but once you core and tap that head for the insert there is a lot of threading there to secure the insert and the plug so I sincerely doubt it would blow out. My bet is you're doing great! Good luck with it, I hope it does great for you.

Would this kit work on 2008 Crown Vic police interceptor?

Yes. The 4.6 2 valve and the 5.4 2V use the same heads.

Why are you doing the treads? Did the spark plugs bow out?
@javosgarage Жыл бұрын
In my particular case, I'm doing this as a preventative measure. These motors are notorious for only having a few threads to hold the spark plug and they can strip out over time and blow the spark plug out. This will keep that from happening.

Is the time sert 6020 threadlocker liquid or gel? I don't have any but wanted to see if there is a alternative.

Great tutorial by the way. Very informative.

I used the liquid. Honestly, I didn't know there was a gel option with it. I have also used a Loctite version that worked really well too. It's their Loctite 27240 high temp, high strength thread locker. Here's a link so you can check it out: amzn.to/3C5vEVp So I don't get in trouble I have to let you know I am an Amazon Affiliate and that is an affiliate link so I earn a commission from purchases. I still used the JB Weld up along the shoulder though.
