Episode 4 from the series Help! with Skip Heitzig. Watch the complete series:
• Help!
If someone takes a substance or engages in an activity that provides temporary pleasure, but it becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities, he or she is said to be an addict. Addictive behavior is widespread and is one of the reasons people turn to Christ. But even those who follow Christ can tend toward addictive behavior. We were born with a sinful nature. When we’re born again and have a new nature, sometimes the battle is fiercer than ever. How can we find help?

God spoke to me and the struggles with my family powerfully through this message. God always speaks to me through your messages but this one was very specific to something that just shattered our world last night.

Every part of this message is a great blessing, pastor Skip. It tugged the strings of my heart. You were very clear about how we can identify our struggles and how we can overcome them by applying the word of God. Ever since I have started listening to your messages, my perspective on life changed. You make God's word so beautiful and refreshing. God bless you, pastor, and may your ministry continue to bless people to come close to God.

26:30 The story of Thomas Martinez reminds me of a homeless man who got an inheritance in Colorado. He bought land and an RV, started building and was fined repeatedly and sued for his RV being parked on his own land. It was in Rocky Mtn News.

When Paul was saying who will deliver me, was this before or after salvation?

Will you please answer this! I have been told it is wrong to ask for forgiveness of sin. I am to confess my sin but to ask for forgiveness is wrong because Christ has already forgiven me . This has really got me confused

Who told you it's wrong to ask for forgiveness for sinning?

You are not wrong to ask for forgiveness of sin. No where in the scriptures is such a thing suggested. When you confess you are essentially repenting which comes with a desire for forgiveness. Even if you are already forgiven, God wants a recognion of that guilt and for you to change. Keep in mind God is outside of time, so he isn't offended when you ask for forgiveness, even though you are already forgiven. Hope this helps, God bless.

@christenmoorman hi your question is a good one and the answer lies in your new identification in Christ Jesus. The death burial and resurrection over came the power of sin. Jesus died once and forall for all sin past and future. Many interpret that the confessing of sin was part of the born again experience. You transformed into a new creation in Christ. Maturity will show you in His plan for you that you are a saint, an heir in Christ Jesus. I find that when I screwup my saying I am sorry for whatever to Jesus it is giving me a clear conscience as I would when I have to humble myself and ask my bride to forgive me for my look, words, action the last thing I want to do is hurt who I love. Her and Jesus. I am married to my bride in the flesh and we are both married to Christ Jesus. For our sake we clear the air and we are reminded that we are permanently forgiven forever. We never want to spend time and days beating ourselves and be controlled with guilt from satan. Forgive ourselves Jesus did. Keep talking to Jesus and read scriptures to see His ways. This is a great teaching from Skip heitzig to help understand. Much love in Christ Holy Spirit will lead you

“The LORD's ordinances are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is your servant warned. In keeping them there is great reward. 12 ¶ Who can discern his errors? Forgive me from hidden errors. 13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Then I will be upright, I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression. 14 ¶ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in your sight, LORD, my rock, and my redeemer.” Psalm 19 of David

Hi Christen, in accepting Jesus as our Saviour, confessing that we are sinners and need redemption which he grants through His death, we are now dead to sin and forgiven. But , as Paul writes, unfortunately we still sin because of our carnal body, nature, allthough we always seek to resist with the help of the Holy Spirit, we fail as on this earth we are not perfect. So we ask for forgiveness, as king David prayed, Lord, search my heart.. we pray, show me the sins I do not even know..and we carry it to Jesus. Not a day goes by where I do not have to say, oh sorry Lord, please forgive, help me, sustain me. Read the scrupture, we are now His, sealed with the Holy Spirit and have etetnal life. But that does not mean that we life now perfect lives, far from it. But we have a place to go to and a HELPER ❤❤❤love and courage in Jesus
