It's interesting that the implements used for the cleansing ceremony were all red, too. The scarlet thread and the cedar wood (if that's the correct translation - I'm not certain) were red, and there are also numerous red varieties of hyssop (of course, I'm not an expert so that may not be a variety that was available in the Middle Eastern desert way back when).... Nevertheless, the meaning here was made really, really, REALLY clear. I like it. It's amazing how you read through the OT and find yourself bored out of your mind (and feeling guilty for being bored when reading the OT, too) but then when you see it from a fresh perspective, there's not a single sentence in the entirety of Scripture that's boring. Not one. It's a miracle in its own right.
