Very beautiful Bali scenery. I just finished my artwork after following your detailed instructions. It pays off to be patient. Thank you very much! 😅

Calvin, this was the first watercolor painting I’ve tried and you made it simple and easy to follow. I slowed the speed to .75 and paused a lot to follow your instructions, but I learned as much from this lesson as anything I’ve done. Thank you! And I had already bought most of your watercolor papers and the watercolor set, they are beautiful!

Hi Calvin, I just subscribed to your channel. I love to follow your Procreate watercolor tricks and they're just so cool. I wonder if your intro music is some kind of gamelan Bali (Bali traditional music) sound? Well I think I can relate it to this tutorial. Have you seen Bali? Pls come. Greeting from indonesia 👋☺

Hi! The music is a copyright free song that I really love :) As far as I know, it's supposed to be a Japanese theme, but I like it because it does remind me if Balinese music a little. I live near to Bali and I have visited many times! Usually, I stayed at bedbunkers in kuta because it was only 5$ a night. But eventually I prefer the hotels closer to the beach. Last we went, my wife had a dreamcatcher tattoo from a really great shop in kuta.

@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 well, never thought you've visited Bali over and over. That's cool! Btw which part of "near to Bali" do you live, if you don't mind? 😊

@@mbaktyas I live in northern Malaysia, so it's only a short flight to KL, than maybe 2 hours or less to Denpasar. I really like Malaysia because it's pretty quiet but I can always hop over to Thailand or Indonesia if I want to see something different :) Now, me and my wife have a baby so flying us just harder, but we will travel again more when he grows up. Hopefully by then all the craziness will be over with

@Calvin at DrifterStudio your accent pretty much American if I'm not mistaken. Is it true? Yes, surely nowadays the situation is just unstable for you & family to travel around. Stay healthy and stay safe. Thanks for your kind responses. Keep posting nice videos 👍🏻👍🏻

I love your videos. Purchased your brushes a few weeks ago. I don’t know how as of yet to create art but I love that procreate and your brushes make it easier to learn. Can you please tell me what paper to print on so the picture looks the same? Thank you and blessings!
@calvinatdrifterstudio84384 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much ❤️ the trick with painting is to do it a little each day. Try to set small goals and finish everything you paint. Because I use a laser printer, the paper is not important - this is why I prefer this type of printer. As long as the paper is smooth, it will always print crisp blacks and bright colors.

@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 Thank you for your response. I have a ink jet. I guess I may have to consider a different printer. Thank again. And I will try doing art every day. A little at a time. Can't wait for the next video.

Hi Calvin! Thanks for your videos, so inspiring! I wanted to ask you if you’re using an IPad 8th generation and if you’re happy with it. I’m starting to work as an illustrator but I’m still moving my first steps in digital art. Procreate looks perfect for a beginner like me, at the point that I’m considering to buy an iPad mainly for using it, but I can’t afford a Pro at the moment and don’t know if a normal iPad (8th) is good enough if (fingers crossed) I’ll start using it professionally for my illustrations. Also, could the IPad mini 5 be a more powerful alternative? Thank you in advance for your advice!

I love that you have a little disclaimer before starting the tutorial. It's really reassuring for me as a "broke" artist 😂
@calvinatdrifterstudio84384 жыл бұрын
Haha, it's really true, though. The newer iPads are, in many ways, the same old iPads just in a different casing that's harder to hold. The new pencil is also very light and flimsy. If you can keep your current iPad in good condition then it's actually better in my opinion.

I have a question. Do you change the rendering flow of your brushes? Mine doesn't seem to work at all on the setting it came with. I have to change it to Uniform to get it to work. Thanks
@calvinatdrifterstudio84383 жыл бұрын
Hi! You shouldn't have to change anything - can you message me on Etsy and this? There are a few things we check to see what's going wrong : 1. Do you have apple pencil 2. Reset pressure curve 3. Check for update

That’s amazing! Thank you for sharing this tutorial) what light are u using? Is it some special lamps?
@calvinatdrifterstudio84384 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) the lamps are just extremely bright emergency LED lights. I have 4 of them, and they have built in diffusers so the light is not too harsh. I can do a video explaining recording set up if you want

@@BooStudio no problem - I would love to show of my setup! Filming the iPad is a struggle but I figured out a few tricks along the way. The lighting can be anything white LED - the exact shade of why isn't critical because you can adjust the white balance in the camera. In my view, the led light is very cold. But in the camera, I compensate with a white balance adjustment. Also, I have 4 seperate lights. This is important because I want to make less shadows. I placed the 4 lights all around the iPad. The microphone is one of the hardest parts for me. It's not just about buying a good mic- it's more about finding a mic that sounds good with your personal voice. That could be a really cheap mic. The one I prefer is a zoom h1
@BooStudio4 жыл бұрын
Calvin at DrifterStudio wow, Calvin🤩 that’s great idea with 4 lights! By the way, do you have the problem with dimming screen? I thought maybe it’s cause ipad is overheating 🧐 will check the microphone that you suggested) and I like your painting ideas🤩 especially this one with Bali)
@calvinatdrifterstudio84384 жыл бұрын
@@BooStudio the iPad dims for 2 reasons. One is a setting in Accessibility that you can disable, the other is due to overheating. If you disable the auto brightness setting in Accessibility and record the iPad screen at less than 75% brightness, it will not dim due to overheating. In order the balance the scene lighting with the iPad screen, i first set the iPad screen to about 75% brightness. Then, I look through my camera and I can see if the screen appears brighter or dinner than the white table the iPad is sitting on. I carefully adjust the brightness of the LED until the white table matches the brightness of the iPad screen exactly. As long as the brightness of the screen matches the brightness of the white table, the scene will look normal on camera :)
