do the same with top section of the multi purpose ladder on that big conifer hedge I got, like you say far more stable less chance of kick out etc makes me happier when I'm 12 foot up any way ;) . One way to help stop it digging in so much is to just tie a plank across the ladder to help spread the load a bit. Looked like a nice finnish on that hedge too.

To this day I can never understand why people plant flowers or shrubbery in front of a FORMAL HEDGE. A gardener's nightmare. Regards Jim from J.S.G.S
