AGearHead4Life thanks for the reply I got mine running, but had to pull the engine I bought a used one, and figured out it had a rod knock after installing it. So I'm doing the same thing with flat tops and a 54-455-11 cam from comp. The most challenging has been the fuel tank I went with a 1969 Camaro tank with a fuel pump in tank so I could fill up thru my license plate and use a stock style pump. I didn't want to cut up my bed being the stock tank is behind the seat. I left a filler neck still there to cover the hole. I was curious how you did the steam lines I haven't found much info online and haven't got that far yet on my project. Keep up the videos as always I love your work.

Good update, Brother! Good to see you're not quite dead yet! Weekly videos are harder than it may seem when you have a civ job and a mil job and a Family; but we'd sure appreciate it. I know I learn from your vids and always pick up an idea or two. Love those Camaro wheels just the way they are, but the nice thing about Plasti-dip is you can peel it off. I put 12 inch bullet style mufflers on my Suburban's 3" dual exhaust after the Magnaflow turbos, it really helped cut down the resonance at 3000 rpm. There's a reason the factory is putting them on the trucks these days.

yep, about 3k rpm is where my rasp was before also. Thanks man! So far, this will be my job now. So hopefully that means that I'll be able to pull off the weekly videos. Of course, I'm still busy looking for a place to live though. I'm actually out looking for property now.

Power-Train Control Modules (PCM) are unique robust computers loaded with bunches of software. To comply with emissions the run test on every single part that affects type “A” codes during a cold start. This can take 4 minutes + to check resistance to voltage drop on each circuit and device. Systems like EVAP or EGR & Trans-Slippage are done on a clock under certain conditions. Most of this is deleted to set to ignore when programmed depending on age, grandfathered emissions or the states program. But this is OBD-2. Now, cam, higher compression effect knock or ping inside the combustion chamber. Knock Sensors detect this and timing is retarded until knock is gone. Larger or stock injectors injectors are the same way. If running lean then it increases the injector on time to offset that issue. For power, torque and horse pony’s, that cam changes these and most increase both but raise the RPM of the engine to reach its peak. 2.5” exhaust works like that. It allows the engine to exhale and large displacement engines with high RPM camshaft will benefit by using 3” exhaust. Some back pressure is useful under normal conditions and even 3” exhaust still have some. O2 sensors in front of where a catalytic converter(s) goes, swings rich / lean as you drive to detect and adjust the air/fuel ratio. So as long as there is room in the “Fuel Mapping” chart in the PCM, the engine will not run lean and cause damage. O2 sensors behind the catalytic converter monitor the condition of the converter(s) health. (Except late at night with a guy armed with a battery power sawsall) want to make money to buy aspirin mixed with draino to snort because the think it is meth! It can’t help there. But if the cat is working, the O2 sensor behind it signals a flat line. No movement, not rich, not lean. Don’t spend $150 on an O2 sensor because the parts store guy reads O2 sensor code. This is time for a second opinion as this is most likely the symptom and not the cause as a bad fuel pressure regulator is leaking & the O2 sensor is doing its job reporting. I like this truck and he did a good job & has some good friends! Question: What cold air intake brand is that? While most are polished aluminum, this looks like a black plastic which I like it. Thanks for a good informational video. I try to help those understand a little about the system! Today, you can’t spit without hitting a chip or computer. Vehicles are no different.

Good looking out brotha! I knew that some factory wires had the 90* on them. Some of the newer trucks, like 2008 have them. Make sure to check the length on them. I ran into a problem where the car wires weren't long enough for my truck coils in the past. The coils are usually mounted slightly higher on the trucks.

Very nice truck and great info!. I have a 96 C1500 RCSB silverado in pristine condition other than the clear coat peel and some paint fade, but NO RUST! I am going to swap out a perfectly fine awesome running low mileage 5.7 Vortec engine 😬... A lil nervous, but I bought a nice 2005 5.3 LH6 (similar to the L33 in all aluminum block and 799 heads) and got everything with it, harness, PCM, ect... And Now I gotta plan plan plan! And with your information I feel more confident about the project. I want to do mods to the engine before I install, cam, injectors, higher compression, headers, heads ported and polished and debating on gaping the rings for possible NOS or Boost. Keeping it mostly stock. I don't want to change rods, pistons, crank, I want to keep the bottom end stock, just reringed and new bearings (after machining of course) and try to extract as much power out of a mostly stock engine. I figure the bottom end will survive boost as long as I keep my RPM limited to 6000 RPM since rods come apart from over reving, poor lubrication with these LS rods (from what I know about rods coming apart) Also, just so you know, I make custom knife sheaths and I use a material called Kydex. Kydex can be used to make some of your custom covers and boxes to hide your exposed electrical your trying to find a solution for. Think about how you could use kydex to hide some of those electrical wiring. I've made a few things for my truck to mount my phone. So there are solutions using kydex, once you know a little about how to heating and forming it. A kydex box can be easily made to fit the electrical distribution block. It can be made to fit exactly how you need.

I had a couple custom cams ground before for a boat with a sb chevy, you can call and speak to them, cam motion and some of them will talk to you and give you what fits your application. I just saw a cam for a LS that makes 66 hp. over stock, but the lift is still below .500, duration and cl were just changed.

Note: Reason I told this story is because when he was talking about how people would make fun of other people just because they wanted to build their vehicle like they wanted, it reminded me of the guy in my story. How he judges everyones build simply because we focused on performance instead of prettyboy shit like stickers and plastidip. Dont get me wrong, a little bit of stickers and plastidip can turn a build around, but when your whole build is focused on looks instead of performance, dont get butt hurt when you're walked off by a truck from the 70-80s. One day, I decided to rebuild the old 350 in my truck. I put a new bottom end into it, bought alu heads and built them, put a nice loopy cam into it that made the power I wanted, new intake, went with Holly EFI on the top, and put a new MSD dissy into it. Well over 5k into that motor, Then I went online, and bought some $120 (I think) chrome 'fabricated' valve covers. I went to a meet, and popped the hood, and there was this guy there that drove a Eagle Talon and he came up to my truck and said "Why is this junk here?" So i said, "I just like being here man." and his reply was "Well you should load this hunk of junk up and leave with it." At this point I didnt really like this guys attitude. So I said "Look man, I've got more money inside this motor then you've probably spent on your entire car.." One thing leads to another and some people tell us to settle it on the streets. We line up for a dig, and I launch at 2,300 (dumbass I know) and destroy my tires. I don't even try to shift into second, i know what I did, so i just flash my lights, and pull over and wait for him to come back. he turns around and says 'What can get it off the line?" So I suggest to him we do a roll and his response wass "I dont care iff we roll or dig, this cars pushin 40psi of boost, ill smoke you no matter what!" At this point I knew this guy was full of shit so i couldnt wait to wipe that smerk off his face. So we line up for a 25 roll and he honks, and he leaves on the second honk, getting atleast a car length on me, but when I put it to the floor, that gap quickly closed and I blew by him roasting my tires down the highway. Once I hooked up finally and actually started pulling, it looked like he was sitting still. We stop and he says that he.... and i quote....... "I missed 3rd, lets go again" (He drives an automatic. *Facepalm*) So we line up again, this time at 60 he honked twice and took off, but this time I had all the traction I needed, my truck took of on him like he wasn't even trying. and i kept going till 160. before i started slowing down, i pulled back into the "meet spot" and the Talon kid was no where to be found. He never showed back up to our meets, and he became the laughing stock of everyone's fun. Someone would see a ricer and say "There goes the Talon guy!" He became the icon for idiocy and rice in our little group.. So little info, no one liked this guy in the first place, simply because he would judge other people hard work and say their vehicles were shit just because they didnt look 'show car ready'. Even though his car was no where near show car. He prided himself because he knew how to paint a air intake, and his rims and calipers... Also, get this. HE PAINTED HIS PLUG WIRES andout MSD stickers on them cause hes just that cheap... Lol.

I used the brackets that are there on the frame, just moved them and used the tank straps made for the tank. 73-87ChevyTrucks website has a build thread on it that I used as a guide. Chris Lucas is the guy's name. He knows C10s better than anyone I know. He also has a KZbin channel.

use speed engineerings c10 ls swap headers, hug the block tightly and clear the frame all day, also clears the shift linkage but you will have to dip below the cross member on the passenger side.

Welcome to the show Tyler! Kinda.. I'm in the middle of doing a budget single turbo on a 6.0 in my 92 Camaro. I do prefer the 5.3 though. Down the road, after I finish the Camaro and other projects, Im considering doing a budget turbo build on the Vandal project wich is a 4.8 truck that I just uploaded a video on.

@AGearHead4Life

Probably wont turbo the blue truck since the motor is complete setup for NA. 11.4:1 CR, Long tubes, cam, etc. Its running well and fun to drive. I'll likely just leave the motor alone and enjoy it. But, I am considering slapping a turbo on the Vandal (2001 Chevy 1500) once I've gotten the Camaro done. The Camaro will be all out push for power. The Vandal will just be low boost, small cam, fun daily driver.
