This is so interesting,Gonna give it a try. Among all Solidworks mates,I love this CAM mate so much,this is OP!

When designing anything you should be aware if it's doable, otherwise you are just drafting, another thing, while the spline is continuous along the curve, if you don't have the curvature constraint at both ends of the arc and spline, you'll have premature wear at these points in real life. Better quality cams have further profile derivatives matching (I've seen some go up to the 20th derivative matching)

In practical application do the came and cam roll follower have to be similar widths as you've illustrated? How does have a slimmer cam to wider follower affect the function?

is this a single dwell or a double dwell cam design?

Why did you start drawing 90mm down from the center? Time : 2:15

This stuff is very interesting. I think some video transitions would make it better.

When selecting cam path, while making mechanical mate for cam, I'm getting an error which says selected face must connect to other faces that form tangent, extruded closed loop.. so I can't select the cam path.. Please guide me!
@SolidworksFunPraveenSingh2 жыл бұрын
while designing the cam path ,make sure that there is a proper tangency between all the sketches. like this 17:47 in the above tutorial.

It was interesting, thanks! But it would be much easier and more correct making all the parts in a multibody mother part, and then form an assembly from it. It would be simpler, faster and much easier for further modification.

pretty primitive way of doing it. Also the dwell period between Rise and Fall should be an arc and not a spline. The profile could very well have been defined using an equation unless it is not possible in SW.

its bassicly doing it with pencil and calliper but on the screen :D
