Replacing the cam shaft seal on my 96 convertible tracker. Had a major oil leak and this was the cause.

Right now though it idles at about 2500 rpm. At higher rpm will you be able to tell if its off time like that? Going down the road it sounds smooth. But sitting it sounds rough. It idles so high I think because my alternator doesn't have a belt on it. It was shredded

Great video. When u install seals like this only put oil on the ID of the seal. On the OD put “Bearing Mount” to prevent it from coming loose. Great job, your explanations are easy to follow.

Never heard of bearing mount. I will look into it.

Hey man, great vid. Do you remember what you think might have caused the timing to misalign? The camshaft turning a bit? Or the belt's teeth not put back on exactly? Maybe belt fell off crank gear below and got put back on differently? Im about to try this exact thing on my Toyota 😬
@trashpandaoffroad35483 жыл бұрын
I think belt skipped over a little while I was trying to tighten it. Probably would have been a.good idea to have someone watch everything as I tightened it down.

hello, why on minute 3:00 aprox, you turn the gear to the right and on 3:40 you turn the gear to the left?
@trashpandaoffroad35484 жыл бұрын
I move the gear to the right in order to get the whole assembly to a point where I can put the screwdriver all the way though to stop the gear from spinning when I go left

I wish I could remember. I dont think I set the engine to TDC I just marked it and lined everything back up.

Your car sounds like mine when you cranked it after your belt was put on the first time. I'm thinking mine may have jumped a tooth as well. Its got 200k miles on it and I don't know if belt has ever been changed on it.

If your gonna look into it check the lower pulley. The key way tends to go out and effect timing.

is the camshaft seal same size as the crankshaft seal
@trashpandaoffroad35489 ай бұрын
That I do not know. They look similar but I don't know if they are the same.

Hello can You support me with the position of the axle gear, I Lost the sequence ,thanks!!
@trashpandaoffroad35483 жыл бұрын
There should be a small dot on. The gear that you can use to line it back up with.

Dude, you are supposed to press in seals, not hammer them in. You run the risk of the seal spring falling off. That seal bore seemed loose. You should have used some sort of sealant such as Locktite 510 flange sealent.

Thanks for the tips. I am just learning as I go. I didn't know loctite made a gasket sealent.

I dont know how mechanic you are and I dont know anything about honda motors but if you keep all the timing points lined up it shouldn't be to difficult. I think.

Where is the cam shaft sensor located on this vehicle?
@trashpandaoffroad35484 ай бұрын
I believe that one is on the back of the engine under the transmission bell housing.
@zachary42254 ай бұрын
@@trashpandaoffroad3548 thank you. My dad had the engine overhauled and now it’s not starting. He’s checked everything, I told him I think he has to drop the transmission to check that sensor. I just wanted to confirm. Thank you.

@@trashpandaoffroad3548 you mean inside the transmission by the flywheel or just unDer the transmission ?
@trashpandaoffroad35484 ай бұрын
Once you separate the transmission and engine it will be above the flywheel kinda below thw distributor
