Thanks Cam Wurf for sharing these insightful tips. One of the best Pro interviews on the channel so far.

Helpful. Thank you Is he not missing a big piece? He’s not doing hill repeats of approx 1:45 No. Post training, don’t eat sugar. Mistake. Take protein then

I have been doing triathlon for a few years and this has been very helpful. I always thought I had to do my intervals as hard as possible (I was basically doing them at the same speed as Wurf while I am nowhere as fast as him, lead to an injury... no surprise.), that was a good takeaway. Thanks!

Oh wow I am so grateful thanks Cam and GTN for such a great video! It confirms what I've been thinking for a long time but goes even further! I was always reluctant to do VO2Max type of efforts on the run because of the recovery needed afterwards and I've done my biggest breakthroughs by doing more threshold type of workouts (tempo runs, mile repeats). That Cam doesn't do any and still is able to run a 2:45 marathon is remarkable! I assumed VO2Max would still improve running economy, but something you could also earn with hill reps which spare your joints a little bit better than that. Definitely food for thoughts thanks!

Great interview, thanks Mark & GTN! This guy's insight into how to improve running for IM training is worth noting. If anyone can improve upon finihsing the 2019 Kona IM in 5th place it is Cam Wurth. It would be great to see him on the podium next year. One last thought, a healthy Jan Frodeno returning to the 2020 IM Kona would be hard to beat.

Interesting about the shoe alternating. I’m always using multiple pairs of shoes, but one is a workhorse shoe. I’m going to try the every other day thing to see if it makes my shoes last longer. I’m at pretty much zero injuries so it wouldn’t help me be healthier.

"You don't need to run fast. Not much quicker than 3.20- 3.30 pace"😂. Wow!!
@sailingintosunshine5 жыл бұрын
that is really interesting, since 3'20-3'30 is roughly his threshold pace, what he seems to be saying is he doesn't care about high intensity training (in running) which is integral to building VO2max. Maybe he limits HIT to biking, where the body load isn't as high
@georgerichard69465 жыл бұрын
He mention 3:20-3:30min/km pace in regards to track workouts... which really isn't that fast especially for a professional endurance athlete.
@leopers92255 жыл бұрын
@@georgerichard6946 Exactly. Also he said thats specific to him.

I would like to ask Cam, did he increase his PR marathon time ability, or did he only increase his marathon speed at the end of a triathlon? Maybe even he doesn’t know. I could see how it’s possible that he didn’t become a better runner, he just became a better one at the end of an Ironman.

My two top tips: 1. Train on grass or softer ground. 2. Regular yoga (proper yoga like Iyengar, not the micky mouse stuff)

Add 20 or 30 more years to your body and its super easy to hurt your body even more with running . Thats why you don't see many 70 yr triathlete's who run well . I plan on being one of the few who do .
@Bayo1063 жыл бұрын
who still wants to be a triathlete at age 70 lol. They probably dont run well because it's easier on their body to cycle and swim at that age

It’s the idea that he’s improved his running so dramtically coming from a rowing/cycling background. He’s not a natural runner like the brownlee brothers who have always been good runners
