I am running something very similar with the addition of an assault pack. If I don't use the assault pack for a day run, I just lock on a 3L water bladder on the MOLLE on the back of the suspenders. Has all I need. Nice set up, the bandolier is a great idea! Gonna go grab mine, thanks for that!

@Joe_Friday the one from velocity? I do still have it. I used it quite heavily for a year and a half. Really good rig. Job rn has me in a plate carrier so that's about all I'm running these days. Jungle rig is more useful though

Great video. I’ve been planning something similar. I love the idea of the bandolier for organization. Now that you’ve had this kit for a while, do you like having the pistol on it? I’ve been leaning towards not using to keep weight down and have less to have to prepare/gather before donning and out the door. I’d love to hear your thoughts
@camakazi482 жыл бұрын
I've actually completely moved away from this kit. I have a similar set up but I'm using a velocity jungle rig. It's far more balanced and comfortable. I still do carry a handgun but not on the kit. I typically am carrying a j frame revolver on my ankle, in a pocket or a k frame revolver in a shoulder holster. If I was taking to the woods with a ruck and the kit for real, I'd probably have a .22 revolver in my ruck sack, maybe the j frame and my rifle. Handguns definitely aren't a necessity. I carry my carry gun with me in the woods now because where I am unless it's hunting season, I'm on private land or the range I can't easily open carry a rifle without people freaking out but I still like having a gun with me.
@camakazi482 жыл бұрын
I'd rather have a 2nd Nalgene and no pistol with the rifle or replace the pistol with a hatchet or something more useful I think. But one in the ruck is still not a bad idea

@camakazi482 ай бұрын
When I used this rig I carried a tac med solutions pmk in a cargo pocket. My other belt kit I had an hsgi bleeder. I have also mounted pouches laterally to the top flap of the butt flap that cabe reached with either hand for medical equipment previously. This gets hung up on a frame pack sometimes though

HSGI discontinued the modular padded shoulder harness that you have. big sad. looks nice.

It is nice but I prefer the velocity systems jungle kit harness. This harness is comfortable but it doesn't lay flat on your back and take a lot of effort to get it set right with the belt. I haven't had the same minor annoyances with the velsy one

IFAK! Definitely need a quick access bandage/tourniquet right up front! And booboo kit, of course-- I usually cut off the tail of a white cotton tee, about 7 inches wide, and wrap my kit up in it, with a flap of it sticking up to grab quickly... Snatch it out, it pulls your booboo kit with it (I usually have my tourniquet separate, stuffed behind the tee-shirt roll so it doesn't go flying), and you've got a clean cotton bandage in a continuous loop, for plain wrapping a hand, etc, or twisting it up into a quick pressure bandage or splint, while you get out whatever else you need from the booboo kit/IFAK (depending on what you had rolled in the tee), which likely landed on the ground in front of you (which is good, cause if I have whacked a finger off I'm hitting my knees anyway 😂) Credit to Dave Pearson aka ReallyBigMonkey1 for the tee shirt bandage loop/ IFAK grabber idea!

Thanks for the comment. Several of my other videos show the ifaks I use. I predominantly use things with a pull out tray or secure everything with a bungee with the tail hanging. T shirt is good idea

Do you find the placement of the m4 mag pouch on your strong side interfering with kneeling/ climbing/ going prone? I am putting together a very similar setup and I was wondering if I’d have room for a rifle mag pouch in front of my pistol. Nice rig!
@camakazi483 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot. No it's not a problem for me. If I need to lay flat or if I notice it is digging in I'll just unbuckle the waist strap. Most of the time I don't find it to be an issue. Worst part is getting the shoulder straps adjusted so it sits where I want it.
@Reject_Modernity17763 жыл бұрын
@@camakazi48 Thanks for replying! I have the same belt and harness. I also got a Tactical Tailor fight lite harness to try because the hsgi harness seems sort of “squarish”. Have you tried the LBE with a ruck at all? That has always been the thing that made me reluctant to try a modern LBE. It’s nice to see someone thinking along the same lines.
@camakazi483 жыл бұрын
@@Reject_Modernity1776 I have ran this with a ruck. It works decent with a medium alice. I usually rest the bottom of the pack on top of the butt pack of the lbe. Does not work so great with a tall ruck like ilbe or an internal frame type pack.better with an assault pack. I have the unpadded harness too but I like the gel straps. Honestly I use a chest rig more than anything when I'm running a ruck. The lbe is more of a project rig that I take with me to play in the woods. I haven't had much free time as of late to really put it through it's paces so my time on the range has been limited to using my kit for work. Thanks for the views. Good luck with your rig. Hopefully I can get some more content up soon

I have several that I move between rigs when I'm using them. Eventually I'll most likely condense the double mag pouches to 2 triple and open some space for an ifak. For now i molle it to the butt pack when I'm using it

I’ve been trying to find an h harness like that and can’t seem to find one.
@camakazi482 жыл бұрын
That particular one is from hsgi. It's an accessory marketed for their sure grip belts. Mayflower/velocity systems makes a good one for their jungle rig but it hooks to their jungle rig pouches similar to how an alice harness attaches to the pouches

@@camakazi48 Ive been looking at the jungle kit from velocity. However it doesn’t have the Molle attachment possibility on the upper back.
