you meant to say 400 hp and maybe 10.5 cr. that is by far not 600 hp let alone 12.5 cr, your numbers are way off, show a dyno run, and prove us wrong, unless your at5k above sea level.

Man that thing should be nothing but tire smoke at 600hp, it looks a lot more like 425-440hp no offense man, I build them for a living and even my 500hp 383's are absolutely insane to control till you let off the throttle

@Derek stewart hey you build strokers for a living? people always only hear hp..but not the high torgue these engines produces because of how its built..these stroker motors have a lot of torgue more than hp most of time by a large number..am I correct? So with all that torgue 500hp probably getting 600ft lbs so that's gonna spin tires like its not even trying lol 600hp close or over 700ft lbs whew lol and toegue happens at low rpms..

I agree with ya on that I have a 377 destroked 400 solid flat tappet cam good heads and single plain intake with dome pistons it’s around 13:1 and supposed to be around 550hp give or take but it will also rev 7500rpm and it sounds nothing like this car but they are totally different motors but power is power
@7REDDRACO78 жыл бұрын
I am watching the mail boxes it doesn't do bad but 600hp cars tuned to launch would cut0-60feet or 0- 100 feet in under a second and a half like most anything under the higher power cars. The 3rd gen is light but the stock 90's iroc is not as light as 80's plane janes. I like the pull in 4th was surprising though. seemed to be around 100mph and that was 1:57 to 2:05 rolling 2mph crawl of a start. 8 seconds. One thing I noticed it has a concentrated flat torque band and pulls consistently. A great street machine driver for sure.

Yeah it depends on the Dynamic compression wich is influenced by everything including the cam. Static compression alone cannot dictate octane tolerance. Also a trick I use of the likes of "priority main oiling" you can cool the chamber and detonation problems with priority head cooling and use proper quench and a quickburn chamber then run ridiculous compression with the right cam with the timing it should have regardless.
@nashvilleoutlaw Жыл бұрын
I have yet to figure out a ballpark figure for dynamic compression range on 87 octane. Tons of information online about 10.5:1+ on 93.

12.5:1 compression with 93? no way thatd run without spark knock
@Blackneck199410 жыл бұрын
It's possible. 12.5:1 is about as high as people should go on 91, little safer with 93 if it's available. But definitely doable, plenty of people running 12:1ish on pump fuel safely.
@Blackneck199410 жыл бұрын
Not true at all. As long as the tune is good and fuel quality is good it's not a problem. Plenty of stock engines these days are in the 11:1 range. The Subaru FA20 is 12.5:1 STOCK and it's obviously designed to run on pump fuel since it's in a production car. Efficiency and capability has come a long way.

so you're talking engine dyno lol.. engine dyno would mean now take away 20% for wheel HP.. making it only 332rwhp/317rwtq.. which sounds more like it.. my old 350 made 327rwhp/340rwtq.. with ~9.0:1compression..

why cause the same answer the guy above said? Spark knock? Cause if that's you answer, the question do you even know what causes predetonation? Cause if you do you, then you understand why good cooling, timing, the type of plug and adjustments to said plug and above else the treatment of edges in the combustion chamber and the top of the piston are very important. You'd also be familiar with some of the tricks engine builders use for NASCAR engines.
@zx6rkawi094 жыл бұрын
It can be done I did it with 12.1 355sbc! He got timing set where he can do it or his cam gives him a lower dynamic compression so he can run full timing!

why such a high compression ratio I agree w the others it's just not feasable .. or necessary . how did you achieve it planing the deck w domed pistons another question is how do you control,the advance curve to keep it from,detonating or pre detonating is the proper vernacular it's a nice ride for real I really like it I saw what appered to be an air cleaner on a carburator is that right ? What distributor ?? it must be something with adjustable advance curve or computer operated holla at me

you can get well over 600 hp on the right 383 setup. meaning: camshaft, pistons, heads, crank, and programmed ecu. also certain deleted features that were factory installed will free up some horses. and you dont even need to use the high dollar gas. you can setup a engine to run 87 and still get the same performance as another identical engine running race fuel.

to bad you didn't pop the hood , but ill just take the 6 inch cowls word for it being a beast . You would have to have a monster cam in order to get your dynamic compression down to 8.5 from 12.5 .. just looked it up , if you went with comp cams 305H magnum you could take the dynamic compression down to 8.3 . good job man . I bet it does make 600 if you spin that sucker up to 7 000 . you would need a crazy build tho . I like the car , but not a daily driver at all . probably 2 miles to the gallon

No possible way that's 600hp, I have a 94z28 with a lt4 based 388 stroker that dynos at 583hp at the wheels, and even with full tube k member all the way back to the rear end and 315 nitto drag radials with only a 373 posi and 6 sp if I don't heat the fuck out the tires and short shift it blows the tires 1st 2nd and halfway through 3rd, so if they told you 600hp I would not ask for the dyno sheet but ask to personaly see it dyno. So many people print fake ass dyno sheets to sell cars, Nice car but only maybe 450hp, maybe.
@kirleyq139410 жыл бұрын
Probably more like 400rwhp! lol What heads and cam on your Lt4 to make so much power?
@GixxerKris10 жыл бұрын
Atomic Ws6 not to sound like a asshole but because of what I do with my car, and all the damn haters who follow my comments around trying to get my exact setup so they can try to build something to keep me from continuing to empty their piggy banks, I won't give my exact cam and head specs online, but if your really interested we can talk on the phone or in person. But I can tell you the basic setup, my heads are just the stock aluminum heads, but obviously ported and polished along with larger valves, I run Manley severe duty valves, never had a problem with them, my valvetrain is all COMP solid roller, pro elite rockers, duel springs, etc. Another way I scavenge hp is electric water pump, no pwr steering, no belt driven accessories except my alternator, and I use a low mount for it. I also want to note that the 582hp was made on a very aggressive tune, and running 116 vp fuel. After that summer we re tuned for street use and 93 octane pump gas. I haven't had it back on the dyno since but I think it pulled about 60 whp so I'm only around 500~525 at the wheels with the street tune for pump gas. And actually I'm working on a octain on demand setup now where it's driven on 93 octane but when I spray it the small fuel cell with it's own pump and a secondary set of injectors will immediately feed 116 octane while using nitrous. It's pretty cool but tricky to get right.

@agenttex75696 жыл бұрын
CBob's Country Bunker well it depends on the parts you put in, I’m putting in eagle head, rod & pistons, the hole engine is made of forged parts. The piston weigh about a 1 pound each , with a mechanical cam, 100 octane, with 12.5 compression. It really just depends on how far someone is willing to go to get power not to mention I’m using 6 inch rods and not 5.7 like everybody does, it’s full on race motor.
