You'd think with this kind of power it would be all over the place at the limit in the corners but its so well balanced at the limit. I know some people think its weak, but the balance it comes with on track is why I wont modify this car. It SO doesnt need it.

dash captures of Vermont your right, but that was their very "first two cars", not present and using another car engine like camaro. Chevy was doing good having camaro where it was. As I see now, camaro is like an app. Corvette is the full version and camaro is quickly progressing to becoming the lite version. Yeah it would be cool to actually see a camaro get to that point without being a bodykit corvette. Sorry, just can't give it credit, if it's no where due, you know

When you're driving at $300,000 Ferrari, there are several considerations that run thru your mind; #1-does the guy behind me know what hes doing? #2- Is that HIS car or a buddies. #3- How much would the repairs be if this guy crashes into me, etc. I drove a 488 GTB, AWESOME car- as is the ZL1....repair costs and depreciation? I can PROMISE you that was running thru the guy''s head all the time you were tailing him. Good inside passes tho, bro! Buck for buck, the ZL1 is perhaps the best deal on the planet- wise choice.

My thoughts as well for the first run - except he did it a subsequent time at open throttle suggesting he was probably telling the driver, you lost, move on. As a heavily modified Camaro owner, I have to believe a 300-400k car doesn’t want to play bait and switch with amateur drivers in our cars for an extended period of time.

Fun. Friend of mine had a C7 Z06 we tracked last year. He made very small stickers of Porsche, Lambo, and Ferrari emblems. Every time we'd get them to buckle and point by, we'd put a sticker up under the left side fender emblem, fighter pilot style, to mark our kills. Ferraris and Lambo drivers always seemed to be pretty unskilled/or just very careful, were slow, and quick to point by. The 911 drivers though...they would fight forever. Nothing a Porsche fanatic hates more than being passed by a Chevy. Enjoy the car. It's a blast. Invest in some Hoosiers...I promise you will never regret it and will really get to feel the car can truly do.

google local track days and you will see local groups as well as national groups like NASA ( national auto sport association) or SCCA . The SS is amazing! So well balanced. You dont need anything to start other than about $180 for the day, helmet (the group will have its requirements but they will not break the bank)$100, plus tire and pad wear. You get 4-5 20 min sessions and when you start you get a free instructor. They will not let you drive alone or take passengers until you move up. Ive done 30 track days in 4 years,#31 coming up!
@Dolby1096 жыл бұрын
The SS with the magnetic suspension option handles great. Check out Motor Trends video where they compare it against the M4 (Spoiler alert: The Camaro matches the M4 in every metric, but was easier to control and felt more connected). If you care a lot about handling get the ~$45k (before discounts) SS 1LE which is posting better lap times than supercars that are just one generation old. The SS 1LE even posted a better lap time than the current R8 V10+ on VIR.

Looks like you had fun, but I always like running the correct lines even when I am just stroking the car. I did like the SG Z06's lines consistently even though he was saving brake pads at the end of the drag strip by giving it up at the bridge. I always figured using the bridge as a braking marker would help my pads live 2 x as long as they would if I waited another 100 feet. But then I never ran the race car at Firebird Main, just the track car. Keep the shiny side up and enjoy.

When the 488 flashed his hazards at you it indicated he bested you in the straight. Flashing of hazards is commonly used in the street racing culture to show who wins in a drag or rolling race on a highway/street to let observers from a distance know who won.

The Ferrari driver wasn’t “doing the hazards”. 🙄 Many foreign market cars, under hard/emergency/threshold braking, trigger the hazards or cause the brake lights to flash. It’s a heads-up to people following that the car ahead is slowing suddenly. I love the bang for buck and performance of the Camaro, but the ignorance of how cars work got too annoying to continue watching. Have fun with the car, but please for the love of automotive enthusiasts everywhere, learn a little about how different cars behave before opening one’s mouth.

32 cold . It’s still a heavy car that already has issues with alignment and tire cupping so I don’t like to go too low and tear up the sidewalls more. Especially on tracks with sustained high speed turns or ovals

Not familiar with Wild Horse Pass - am surprised you can take a passenger on the track. Been wanting to do this for awhile - if I can find a way to do it I'll have to invest and upgrade from a sport to a competition license just so the family can enjoy the fun. Thanks for sharing this video - looks like all had a blast!!

Your title is somewhat misleading, as two amateur drivers are hardly a good measure of a cars performance. For that I'd look to car and driver's Lightning Lap Historical Results, where I woudln't be shocked to learn that coincidentally, a ZL1 beat the Ferrari as well.
